In reply to: Widget Font Titles not consistentI appreciate your answer, but unfortunately I have no way to change that. I am not even sure how you see the source code for the site that INCLUDES the widgets. The editable region of the HTML for the Widget does not include the Title formatting. Running Parabola-child theme… If you can tell me how to find out why that is happening I will be able to fix it!

In reply to: media upload errorI have just installed WordPress and am encountering exactly the same error message.
“Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2015/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”
Where do I find the ‘file permissions’ that wslade mentioned? There was no ‘upload’ folder in the wp-content folder so I created one, but that didn’t do anything.
I have used WordPress for many years and have never had this problem before.Frustrated!

In reply to: Cursor position in Visual & Text editorI am not sure how often this happens, but I’m glad to say I came up with my own solution. Since I’m fairly certain that others of you have had the same problem here is what I did. If you read my question the answer was right in front of me all along. I said “I miss the split screen capability of Dreamweaver”.
So the answer? Use Dreamweaver and WordPress together!
I use my Dreamweaver split screen to edit the pages that have a lot of code.I simply copy the code (click on ‘Text’, then Select All and copy the entire HTML block).
Then open a new Dreamweaver document and REMOVE all the code in CODE view and paste in the HTML code from your WordPress page and then you can work with it just like you would any other webpage. Only difference is that the layout in Design View sometimes doesn’t look exactly as in the final page, due to WordPress Theme php or CSS styles that aren’t displayed until you actually Preview the page in a Browser.
After making the changes, I simply copy the code in DW and paste it directly back into the page in the WP editor. If for some reason the code gets corrupted or something gets screwed up you can always restore the previous saved version of the page. Thank you WordPress!

In reply to: [Theme: Parabola] Is there any way to remove comments field?Hi
I just discovered this and am passing it along…
I’ve been wrestling with this one for a long time in just about every website! This works with Parabola (3.9.1)
– Go to the PAGE in question and select edit
– At top right in edit mode there is a small box called ‘screen options’
– Checkmark the Discussion box
– Scroll down to bottom of the page
– Uncheck both ‘Allow comments’ and ‘Allow trackbacks…’
– Update the PAGEYou may need to do this for each individual page.
This would be for our website https://www.sunlightbioelectric.com/SBE/
thanks for help!

In reply to: [raindrops] Add Menu Buttons to Menu BarWhere does this code go exactly?

In reply to: [raindrops] Add Menu Buttons to Menu BarI need to change the background color in the left sidebar to black.
How do I do that?Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [raindrops] Add Menu Buttons to Menu BarThis morning I figured out the problem!
I added my original widget information to extra sidebar and made default sidebar left instead of right. Problem fixed!
I then placed the buttons in the default sidebar widget and linked each one separately.
The only thing I need now is to have the widget background in the default sidebar to be black. How do I do that? You can see how it looks now: https://www.sunlightbioelectric.com
Thanks!

In reply to: [raindrops] Remove commentsSo, I am a little confused as to whether I
-
need
to create a child theme. It seems this may be the case…
I have another site that I made a month or so ago, (also using the Raindrops theme) so if I have to create a child theme, and I want everything to stay the way it is now, can I just make a total copy of the current ‘parent’ theme so that all my changes are included in the new child theme?

In reply to: [raindrops] Remove commentsThanks to you all who responded, especially. sayed2x2!
I knew there was a place to edit out the comments, that it should be an easy fix… I just didn’t know which .php file it was… Thanks so much!Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [raindrops] Remove commentsNo, actually I want to do the opposite!
The site I’m working on is https://www.designingawareness.com
The client doesn’t want people to leave a reply. NO COMMENTS PLEASE!
Nobita,
Creating a new site with Raindrops. Can I remove BOTH side bars?I am also having difficulty knowing how to edit out the comments so they do not show up. I have unchecked all the boxes in the Dashboard/Settings/Discussion page.
I think it can be done in comments.php?
Hi nobita,
I was able to get the header to show the ‘featured image’, but unfortunately it also shows up in the body section! I don’t want this!
I was wanting to insert a slideshow in the header, but could not figure out where the code would be placed.
Stafan Boonstra suggested below the line <div style=”text-align:center;”>
I couldn’t find a line that said that in the header.php file, nor in the header-front.php, nor in the header-html5.php file.Thank you for your patience with me as I learn how to use this great theme!
