    Hey Chip,

    Oh, now I see.

Well that’s a good question. How ’bout this one. If Yoast’s plugin provides for Google to see the category description as part of the SEO, and I also show the category description on my page, will Google count this as duplicate content?

    Regards,

    Diana

    Hey Chip,

Thanks for the quick response. I’ll play with this. If I have to. Still waiting to see what the Rev says.

    Hey Rev,

If I’m using Yoast’s WP SEO, do I need to worry about placing code anywhere?

    Hey Chip,

Thanks for the code. I’m a bit of a newb though. Could you tell me where this would go?

And not just which document, but where in the document – like
    before________ and after _________

    Appreciate your help.

    Regards,

    Hey Rev,

Jeez, how did I miss the “Yoast” in your answer? OK then, that particular question is answered.

I’m going to go through the plugin (and instructions for setting it up) to find out how to enable these. Must have missed it on my first pass.

Thanks again for your quick response.

    Hey Rev,

Wow, that was quick! How ’bout Yoast’s WordPress SEO? Just installed it, and am working on setting it up, which is what prompted my question.

    Regards,

    Diana

    Hello,

Just installed WP SEO Version 0.2.3.1 last week. Have ticked the box in the Internal Links section to remove the blog from breadcrumbs. Yet if I’m on a page that is filed under a category in my subnav bar but is also included as a blog post, the breadcrumb still shows that it is a child of the blog. Even if I’ve navigated to the post via the category on the subnav bar, and not via the blog.

Any way to correct this? Or does the blog always take precedence no matter how you navigate to a post?

Oh yeah, if the fix involves the use of code, please be very specific as to where I’d put it – not just the name of the document I’d put the code into, but where in the document; ie – after________ and before_______ (still kinda new at this).

    Thanks much,

    Diana

    Hey Frisco,

Thank you for taking the time to explain these issues. It’s people like you who allow someone like me (I would no longer consider myself a total newbie, but prior to attempting to build this site have only “surfing the web” and “Googling stuff to find answers to trivial questions” listed on my tech resume) to move forward in this endeavor. I truly appreciate it.

I hope you’re still checking out the posts on this forum after I verify and start using GWT; I have a feeling I’ll be back with more questions!

    Thanks again Frisco.

    Best regards,

    Diana

    Hey Lester,

    You Rock!

Thank you so much for taking time to respond to my post and providing a fix for the Opera issue. I know you’re busy, and I really appreciate it.

I really like the plugin, so I’m glad you were able to help.

    Best regards,

    Diana

    Hey Miom,

Don’t know whether this will address all your questions. I’m pretty new at blogging and am still working through everything here:

Good luck and I hope this helps a bit.

    Hey Tormentor,

I got a real quick reply on this, and being pretty much of a newbie, it’s gonna take me a while to get through it all, but I thought I’d share so you can get started, as well.

Here’s the url of the new thread so you can follow it or post further questions:

    Good luck,

Just an update. I had updated to WordPress 3.1 around the same time I downloaded this plugin.

Actually, it is WordPress 3.1 that has added the new admin bar, not WordPress SEO.

So I’ll be posting this question in a different forum.

@tormentor – If I get some clarification on this elsewhere, I’ll post it here as well, just so you know how to access the info.

    Diana

    Hello,

I, too, am somewhat of a newbie, and after reading the description of the plugin’s capabilities, thought that

    a) instructions for the meaning of the meta tags and all the stuff on the title page would be included

    or

    b) that, upon request, an explanation of these terms would be offered to newbies.

@bcarterI would imagine Yoast would tell you it's not for those who don't know SEO

But, before downloading and donating to the plugin, Joost didn’t mention anything of the sort. In fact, it seemed to me that Joost wrote this plugin for people who were not familiar with all the ins and outs of SEO – to help us accomplish better SEO.

Anyway, all that being said, after installing the plugin today, I’m happy with what I’ve seen so far, but I still have the same questions as Eric.

Is there any way to provide a newbie-friendly document/explanation of the terms that have spaces for us to fill in? Hopefully you might be willing to further assist some of us tech-challenged, but determined bloggers, Joost!

    Thanks so much.
