Update – it definitely seems to be the countdown-timer plugin. I removed the plug in (but had not closed my browser to retry) when I made the previous post. Once I closed my browser and reopened it, the site came up and worked fine.

I uploaded the countdown timer plugins again and brought up the home page – it came up fine, the counter was active. Once I clicked ANY link – not just login – the site locks. I removed the plugin files again, closed/reopened the browser and it is working fine. I tried this on two machines with identical results. Could this be a session issue of some kind? I ask because once it locks, the only way to get back into the site is to reset the browser.

Anyone else had this trouble? I am going to do a little more digging, and did not want to spam the board with a new thread on the timer…

Thanks. I’m on 2.6 and my default is “wp-content/uploads/”.

But I unchecked the sort by year/month (and added the full URL for good measure) and that fixed it.

The answer is I needed an editor or admin account with my “secret” email address. I posted this warning, in case you have the same problem.

Here’s a warning on that:

Do not set up the “Blog by Email” service until after you have established the account epierse mentioned. I had the same problem and found this thread while searching for an answer.

When I set up the account, the system immediately shot a confirmation email to the address, which, containing account and password info, was dutifully published on my blog.

Update: I’ll be darned. I just uploaded and activated QuickShop (not using it in any way, and did not change any code in any pages) and Captcha now works. Thanks for that info!

Just curious. I just installed V2.6 and am having the same problem with Captcha.

“ERROR: Image Validation does not match.”

Did anyone ever find a solution? I tried reCaptcha, and it crashed my browser the first time I tried it. I also find the Captcha images easier to read. If someone has an answer I would appreciate the help.

Anyone have any ideas on this? I’m stumped. Thanks for any help.
