OK, thanks, not sure what the difference is but I tried again and it worked, thanks!
I am also having this issue. Adding the code to functions.php resulted in a 500 error.

In reply to: [Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com] Cannot connect and lost statsJeremy, I tested the access to the xmlrpc.php and everything seemed fine. I get back the one line of code “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.”
My host isn’t blocking access to this file. I don’t have any security plugins, I haven’t updated any plugins recently either.
Everything was working fine until I installed the second Jetpack plugin for the subdirectory install. I’ve uninstalled that plugin but now my wordpress.com account doesn’t list anything under “my sites”.
This really seems to be an authentication issue between my blog, jetpack, and wordpress.com. Here’s additional details from the debug:

In reply to: [Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com] Cannot connect and lost statsHi Jeremy, the blog is https://thomaslarock.com, thanks for having a look.
Hi,
I’m having a similar issue. I had Jetpack and stats on my blog working just fine for 4+ years or so. Two weeks ago I installed WP into a subdirectory and connected Jetpack. Today I noticed that the stats at wordpress.com were showing for the subdirectory, not my main blog. I’ve tried uninstalling the second plugin and disconnecting/reconnecting my main blog Jetpack plugin but now I am just getting an error that says “site_inaccessible” and wordpress.com doesn’t show any stats. I’m certain this is a simple fix somewhere, perhaps updating a blog id, but I don’t know where to make any changes. Any help you could provide would be welcome!
