In reply to: Who's posting the spam?Ahh, thanks for that!
That makes more sense now.
I was a wee bit worried there was some kind of security hole for a while there.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Who's posting the spam?I understand that Akismet is working, and keeping the spam from my pages, but what I’d like to know is this:
How is this spam even getting into the Spam folder, when I have my security settings such that only registered users, who are logged in, can leave comments. Yet none of the comments in the spam folder are from registered users.
Here’s a sample screenshot of the spam folder, showing Author names with URLs.
How are they able to post (even if Akismet does trap it) when not registered?
Thanks for that. That is very helpful.
What did you use for testing the site load times?
We can consequently confirm that your site was too slow to load before we send out the email.
It seems that is a pretty good set of tests, it just seems odd that I get dozens of reports in one day, but whenever I checked the site, it was performing well.
There have been no reports from JetPack today, however. Which is nice.
Well, when I checked the site didn’t load slowly.
In that case, can I make a “feature request” to throttle back on the announcements, using some criteria or changing the site down message to “site slow” if it does resolve after 10 seconds?

Thanks for the helpful replies.
Yes I’ve replaced the default admin user. I don’t have access to the FTP and HTTP logs, I don’t think. My site is hosted on EasySpace.
As a precaution I changed the password for FTP and for my EasySpace control panel. Thanks also for the suggested plugins, I will put them on right away.
I had a look through the wp folders, but I’m not really sure what is supposed to be there and what is not.And finally, thanks for the link to the FAQ, I will go and read it now.
