This is enough to make me move over to Expression Engine. I can’t believe that after 4 years of learning WordPress inside out I’m having to move to something else over such a fundamental issue.

Someone must know why this is happening, surely?

Whilst that solution would still list all of the Gigs regardless of which Artist they are assigned to, you are definitely onto something with the “if ( in_category” addition.

I’ll play around and see if I can come up with something.

Thanks so much for your help, I think that was the missing part of the logic that I’ve needed. Still feels like a hack however it’s better than nothing.

list_authors and wp_list_authors are great if I just want their names and links to their respective pages, but I don’t, I want their profile description too.

I will endeavour to write a plugin for it, I guess I’m just suprised that somebody hasn’t already done it, and even more suprised that it’s not included in the core release. It seems like something many people would benefit from.

…because the only tag relating to the profile is this one which will only display the profile of the author of first-displayed post. And apparently accepts no parameters.

So that’s why I’m not currently using author tags. Some other fellow may know of a way for me to use them for my intended use that isn’t currently written up on the Codex, and that is why I have posted here. Do you know?

I’m still in desperate need of a way to do this. The only other method I can think of is to query the database manually but that seems too cumbersome.

Anybody else had any joy doing anything similar?

Are you saying that because you know that there is, or because you’re assuming I haven’t checked?

I used the Support forums search tool to see if there was any mention but couldn’t find anything bar a few threads discussing it in troubleshooting. I’ve not seen Trac before, thanks for the link. But even if it has been mentioned previously, this is the Requests and Feedback forum so duplicate posts should not be an issue, it only adds weight to the issue. I’m not asking for replies.

Re-uploaded absolutely everything and that’s fixed the blank pages, must have been a permissions problem.

This is an email I’ve just received from my host regarding the loading times:

No, haven’t noticed anything else going on with the mysql server or apache server. Unfortunately I don’t know too much about wordpress to be able to debug it efficiently.

It does appear though, that each apache process that gets created when you go to your webpage takes up to 99% CPU power for that burst of 30-40 seconds. I don’t think it’s the server killing off the process or we would be alerted to it, which we are not.

This site’s died a death again all of a sudden though, blank pages throughout the front-end. One problem after another today lol ?? Gotta get error reporting turned on then get back to it now.
