  • Great news! ??
I’m glad this worked, otherwise we would have to do some voodoo magic. Giving up was not an option.

Take care & have a nice holiday,

    Christy,

there is one more thing to try: create a new blog post with a new large enough image but not in GIF format. Publish the post, open an existing post that has the new post shown as related post at the bottom and check whether you see proper thumbnail and not the default one.

If this won’t work and if you’re willing to share blog’s credentials with me, please write an email to support AT zemanta.com, so I can take a look at the settings and maybe figure out what’s going on.

    Christy, just a quick update…

I installed WP Super Cache and tested it with our plugin. With caching turned on there was an issue: old thumbnails appeared for the posts with new featured images (or different images in the post). Maybe you’re experiencing something similar on your blog.

If disabling the WP Super Cache plugin or only turning the caching off won’t be enough, try to remove the featured image and add it back again for both posts.

    Best,
    Mateja

    Hey Christy,

thanks for the links. Unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce the missing thumbnail issue.
I downloaded your GIF images and used them both on our test blog with latest version of WordPress (3.8). Thumbnails were generated correctly no matter whether I inserted the images into a post or used them as featured image or both. Image size is not the problem in this case.

I’ve noticed you’re using WP Super Caching plugin. Maybe both posts were cached before thumbnails were generated and they didn’t replace the static images in time. Try to disable the WP Super Caching plugin and refresh the posts to see whether they’ll get new thumbnails.

Please let me know if this works.

    Cheers,
    Mateja

    Hi Christy,

you are probably seeing default thumbnails for some posts. Our plugin creates thumbnails for posts from images in them. If it can’t find an image in the post or if this image is too small, it returns default abstract image.

Let me know if this is the case.

    Cheers,
    Mateja

    Hi,

thanks for the approval, I received the email with account info.

    Hi Mercedes,

thanks for reaching out. Yes, it was me requesting the license.
Let me know what’s next. Do you have my email address?

    Thanks.

    Looking forward to your reply,

    Hey,

thanks for your great suggestion. The thing is we already had this feature on our todo list for a long time, but it stayed there as there were not so many people asking for it… or maybe the list was just too long.
Anyway, we are planing on reorganizing and simplifying plugin’s settings in the next few weeks, so we just might end up adding the “include pages” checkbox as well.

    Stay tuned ??

    Hey,

thanks for the compliments and for reaching out to us.

The plugin you are using automatically finds and inserts related posts based on the headline and the tags in the post. There is some black magic involved, however this black magic works best for English and I’m quite sure it doesn’t understand French, especially not French word games and unfortunately neither do I. I’m sorry about that.

As you already figured out the “number of posts to display” in plugin’s settings applies to all posts and cannot be set per post. “Edit Posts” is there for you to manually replace any of the otherwise automatically inserted related (or in your case not-so-related) posts with one of your choice. If you insert only a few posts and leave other slots empty, they will be filled automatically. Right now we don’t have plans to add a setting per post…

Well, there is no way to pick up related posts before publish, because they are added on publish, but you can first publish privately, edit related posts and then publish the post publicly.

We have another plugin (Editorial Assistant) that lets you manually insert related content before you publish. It works in a slightly different way and it also suggest posts from other (English) bloggers in our network, but you can always insert content only from your own blog. But again… it works best with English. You might give it a try though.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if you need any kind of assistance — I’ll gladly help.

    Have a good weekend | Bon week-end

    Hey,

this piece of code is not related to the issue you’re experiencing and it serves our internal purposes.

However, we can confirm that issue with editing captions you’re experiencing is now a confirmed issue and we are already working on fixing it.

    Thanks,
    Mateja

    Hey,

We tried to replicate the issue on several instances of WordPress and browsers, but to no avail. This error message was shown only when the computer was offline. Next time we were online we deactivated/re-activated the plugin and the error message disappeared.

Did you try to deactivate and re-activate the plugin?
Are you perhaps behind a proxy or a firewall that might be interrupting the connection?

    Hey,

I’m not quite sure what you mean by PRO account – we don’t offer a paid (or PRO) version of our plugin.
From what you describe this is not a known glitch, so I’ll try to reproduce the error.

    Hey,

I’ll try to replicate the issue with our testing multisite. Can you please tell me which version of the plugin you’re using and which browser?

    Hey Bryan,

unfortunately there is no easy way of doing this right now.

Main difference between related posts and related articles is that related posts are generated and added automatically to your post when you publish the post, while related articles are inserted/removed manually in the editor and saved into the post before you publish. Therefore there is no template tag for related articles.

However, you can try to move related articles to different article container (e.g. div) with some JavaScript code (e.g. using jQuery) , but this requires some programming skills. Look for classes zemanta-related-title for “Related articles” title and zemanta-article-ul for the list of articles.

    Hope this helps.

    Best,
    Mateja
