Thanks for your response! As far as I can tell, that just changes the title. I’m talking about text beneath the thumbnails, like the demo has. See here:

Seems there’s a title and a caption it’s pulling, but even if I put those on the graphic in the wordpress media info stuff, they don’t show up there.

Thanks for your continued help guys… I don’t think I have any plugin conflicts. I did find another weird thing. In my Settings > Reading I have the “Blog pages show at most” set at 10. With the code above that instructs to limit it to 5, it doesn’t change. It stays at 10. If I change that 10 to a 5 THEN it limits the page, but the hardcoded line above doesn’t seem to influence things at all.

There must be something else afoot here. I’ve tried both suggestions and neither work. ??

the posts on the 2nd page are the same as the first. What is odd is that the site seems to know that there are only two pages worth of posts to show, as page 2 doesn’t have a “older posts” link on the bottom.

Here’s an odd thing: I removed the query_posts line all together and it’s STILL having this problem. And category 7 is still not showing up. Could there be another place affecting this setting?

@joshua – The blog isn’t on the home page of the site, but yes, I am needing to eliminate cat 7 from any listing within the blog area.

25 total. (actually 34 but I’m subtracting the ones in cat 7)

The password isn’t the problem. That’s solved with the WP-Password plugin which works great! The questions is how do you enable ANYONE to post a blog entry? P2 has the right interface, but there is no permission set that allows that. Sure, there would have to be another field added called “Author” to the post form, but that could be done, I’m sure.

I’m with the original poster. What I’d like to do is build a family site that is password protect (the whole site has a single password for everyone) and have family members that don’t need to log in, but have gotten past the initial password screen, be able to post P2 style by putting in their name and post, really easily.

The idea here is to prevent family members who aren’t so computer savvy form having to remember a username and password, but still have the ability to post and respond easily.

No longer waiting… I’m blaming the WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin. I removed that and things started working. Had to clear cookies, rebuild permalinks, activate necessary plugins, etc… but I’m back baby!
