    NuclearMoose,
I strongly believe that if someone says your tutorials are horrible and offer no suggestions for improvement, he/she is only putting him/herself down. You care enough to try to help people–a very rare trait nowadays–and you do a great job from what I’ve seen in my short time here.
So, your site has a few bugs; that’s better than most professionional sites. Don’t worry about it! Fix them if you want to, but whatever you do, don’t let someone tear you down like that.
Honestly, I’m embarassed that I received any recognition in those posts. It would’ve been flattering, but given the context I was appalled and disgusted. I have the utmost respect for the WordPress development team and the community here, and wouldn’t dare insult anyone or anything involved. For me, WordPress is a joy to use, and was the PHP-based blog software I had been seeking since installing MovableType. I don’t know Perl and I don’t care much for using the cgi-bin (organization issues; I tend to be slightly obsessive-compulsive), so it was a great relief when I found WordPress. Finally, I had found blogging software I could easily use, modify, and manipulate to get it exactly how I wanted.
Kudos to the dev team, and to you, NuclearMoose. Please, continue to help people, for it is the most noble thing a person can do. Don’t give up, and don’t be sad. Your tutorials help people, and that’s truly all that matters.

The only thing I can suggest is that you update from 0.72 ’cause it’s ancient ??

    “Publicly accessible profile pages.”
Actually, I just made a hack for this two nights ago, which I have yet to release to the general public (hopefully sometime today or tomorrow.) You can view how it works on my site.
Is that what you’re looking for?

    “/home/karma/public_html/wp/wp-includes/wp-db.php”
Do you have the proper permissions set on all of your files? That error is generated by either 1) the files aren’t there 2) the permissions are incorrect and the files cannot be opened.
On my server, I have to set all of the files/directories to allow executing for some reason. Check to see what permissions you need.

That’s odd, because install.php and all the files it uses (and even the files they use as well) don’t contain the error message you’re receiving. That message (AFAIK) is only located in wp-settings.php, which is not involved in the install process at all. Are you sure you’re accessing wp-admin/install.php?

Yes, it’s possible to do that. When you go through the installation, set your “Table Prefix” to something different than the one you already have.
    Example:
    Table Prefix for booklog: wp_
    Table Prefix for main: wp_main_

    Did you run upgrade.php?

I didn’t submit it as a bug fix because the installation of the nightlies is five times more buggy than the 1.0.1 release. I have plans to go through the latest nightly and fix the installation as well, but I first wanted to give the general public an error-free installation of a stable release. The bugs I fixed were very minor (forgetting spaces, trying to enter the same data into the database twice.) I assume these weren’t fixed yet because of the new features being implemented for 1.1, which could break the install. It’s better to fix the installation after all of the features are ready than trying to fix it every time a new feature is added, so don’t think I’m attacking the devs here. I think they’re doing a great job!
WordPress is a wonderful application, I’m simply trying to help. In this spirit, I have taken your advice and deleted all unchanged files from the package. Users will now have to download the official 1.0.1 release and replace the files. I agree with all of you, this is a better idea than distributing the whole package. I have no experience with group collaboration myself, so I’m sorry for the controversy. Thanks for the help, everyone!

It’s alright. I understand that people could change the code to completely wipe a web server and post it as a fix ??
Not a problem at all, I just wish someone would verify the package so people could stop worrying!

It took me less than five minutes to fix that problem in the code. What’s the deal?
