I’m thinking it would allow me to set the times when photos would be changed, and change them in the order they show up in the album. The reason to be able to choose the times is so that in my case, photos don’t change at night, only during the day.

I’m trying to ensure that photos only change during daytime hours, not when people are sleeping.

Interesting concept. So sequence order ID’s would then correspond to an interval structure for 31006 to be the sixth interval on day 310.

That would require an addition to your help&info page so users know to order their images accordingly.

Just to clarify then, if I have 49 images intially, and I want them spaced out every 3.42hrs (so they’re at the same time every day) then I would need to ensure their sequence numbers reflect that time spread. 0103,0106,0109,0112,0115,0118,0121 for day one for example. For my needs I’d probably need an 8th blank holding photo as 7 doesn’t divide into 24 evenly. Or have several blanks if I want the images to only show up during daytime hours. . .

    That could work. . .

    1) Would it be easier to call a php or js system-time function dll, and just offer a drop down list or time picker? When times are selected (by ctrl-click/command-click), have another drop down list show up that picks the album, and then displays the contents by order #. The code might need a stored variable marking the last order# displayed so that a check can be done against that variable when the code looks for the next image to display.

My programming knowledge is introductory at best, and unused for 14yrs old now at worst, so I can’t give you workable examples, but I know for calendar apps for example, there are functions programmers have called that give date pickers, time pickers, and then corresponding choices or actions show up once dates or times are chosen.

Just an idea. . . Doing it this way would allow someone else to come along who wants a different set of times chosen than myself, and still have the widget work for them without any further programming on your part.

Keep the random coding as a legit display option, because there are people out there who like the random nature. I’m just a unique case.

“hour of day is order #” would help, but I wasn’t wanting to create 365 albums with only 7 images each repeated to fill a 24hr period.

What I’m trying to do, is as follows:

I’ve written a book entitled, “A Year in Prayer With Jesus”, featuring The Lord’s Prayer broken into 7 points of an outline. Each point has it’s own Scripture verse and prayer prompt. I’ve discovered that each prayer prompt is largely tweetable, and creating images I could use on Pinterest revealed very nice prayer cards which I will be selling via fotomoto from my site. Because each day only has seven prayer prompts, I was hoping to feature each day’s prompts only, at seven different set times so that visitors to my site would discover that if they arrive at say, 7am every day, they’ll see the prayer card for prompt one, 10am, prompt two, 12pm, prompt three, 2pm prompt 4, 5pm prmpt 5, 8pm prompt 6, and 10pm, prompt 7, and the next day’s prayer cards would not be visible until 7am the following day.

If this is too far beyond the scope of your photo of the day widget, would you have recommendations for another widget that someone else has written that would do this?

The fact I can configure your widget to open full-screen in slideshow mode, allows the fotomoto buttons to still be visible, so I like that part.

To be completely honest, this widget is my make-or-break in using your album plugin period. The only other feature that your plugin has over others I’ve tried so far, is the spacing between tiled gallery images. I actually prefer Jetpack’s mosaic layout, but wish I could add more spacing between images in the mosaic gallery layout.

Based on the futile research I’ve done so far, I’m beginning to think I’ve tripped across a combination of features no one’s coded for yet.

Good question Tom, Jacob how do we do that as I didn’t see a recognizable option under “local” in the import screen.

Ok, I reinstalled the plugin, and I found the photo of the day admin area. How do I set it so that the photo changes only 7 times per day? I’d like to set it so a new photo is displayed at set times instead of every hour. I am working on a project that has 7 cards per day. I’ve done 14 days’ worth so far. Your POD choices right now are pageview, hour, day, week, day order and month order. I don’t want the POD changing 24 times in a day, only 7 times in a day. Is there a way to do this?

    Hey _hoopla,

The Calendar plugin nolonger worked with Sliding Doors theme after the upgrade to 3.9.2. The name of the plugin “All in one event calendar” by Timely.

Found the reference! Didn’t have to go to the plugin edit screen at all.

If anyone else has this problem after enabling fotomoto, you’ll find the phrase in Table ll, line 15, Custom box text. I deleted the div tag with “hello world” in it, and now it’s gone.

Update that since changing themes, one of the four plugins came back. My calendar plugin, :-D! TinyMCE however is having similar problems to others reporting on that right now. Editing and creation are fine in the text tab.

Ugh. . . either my typing is blurry, or you’re not reading everything I type. . . I already changed to another theme. I mentioned that six posts up in this thread. . . I thought you were asking me to change yet again. . . The hint before your last reply should have been “was using” because I’m not using the slider theme now. . . .

I couldn’t even get 2014 to come up in the themes/live preview earlier today, but now it comes up for me in live preview. Makes me wonder more about the sliders theme I was using and it’s compability with the latest wp update. The only problem with switching themes so often is that this IS a live site. So I prefer to preview as opposed to activate.

I’ve already been on the phone with my webhost. The error 500’s were coming from too many internal redirects in some cases, incomplete header information in index.php files in other cases, even after copying over fresh from downloaded 3.9.2 zip file. The ONLY way I was able to regain access to my site was to rename ALL plugin folders! Then it was a matter of re-enabling one by one until I found the four that continued to break the site.

As far as themes go, even theme 2014 did not work in preview. None of the installed themes behaved for me except for the ancient “wordpress classic” and I wasn’t going to use that one! Finally I found a Tempera theme that works.

We looked at the .htaccess file before I finally had to rename plugin folders to get into the site. Definitely a plugin issue this time round. My site is back up and running as I said already. Took me six hours but managed to get it up before this afternoon’s hootesuite plug for the e-course that I offer. *sweaty sigh*.

Definitely not happy with this particular update!

No error messages, and I finally found a theme that works. The theme I was using was named in the post above already and I’ve contacted the theme developer asking if they intend to upgrade their theme to 3.9.2. As for the broken plugins, 3 gave me error 500 codes, the other gave me a 403 as it tried to find a probably now-outdated wp-admin/options. . . php file. My site is now largely up and running now, but it’s taken me 6hrs to get this far! Just trying to find one particular widget’s code and decide if I want the new theme’s home page or not. *shakes head*

Can’t help with that theme, but Sliding Doors and a number of others I’ve tried to preview in my now 3.9.2 themes installation screen, are not working properly. Sliding Doors lets some of my pages load, but none of my post content, although titles are there to click on in the “recent posts” sidebar. So far the only theme that seems to work in the theme preview, is the ancient wordpress classic, which is UGLY!
