same here : I have access to [my blog]/wp-admin/post-new.php but

[my blog]/wp-admin/index.php is a blank…

fwiw I used the InstantUpgrade plugin.

in my wp_options database, there wassomething called gzip
compression! Once set to disabled and BAM site works…

I believe this is something you have to ask your hosting company.

I can add my two cents here : just putting UTF-8 instead of ISO-8859-1 in the admin panel will not automagically convert the database from iso_!!59-1 to utf-8

I’ve found a script here : http:sungnyemun.org/ Supposedly fixEncodings.py should convert the database to utf-8 but I don’t know enough python syntax to get that script to do something on my dreamhost-based blog.

I had a very similar problem.

Disabling SK 2.0 did the trick : the correct number comments are now correctly showing up on my blog.

It appears that takiong down this :

(code from a plugin that’s not active does solve the problem).

The problem is over. I choosed to napalm the sql tables and do an install instead of an upgrade. This means that I don’t know what’s teh cause of the problem…

It was a server problem. My hosting company restarted it and now everything is fine.
