It is not prudent to have this plugin active any longer.
I have deleted it and will work around its former usage

My policy with this sort of event is simple, despite the hassle it causes I disable the plugin immediately and delete after 24 hours if a patch has not been issued.

Dedicated server with 128Gb of memory which has never been stretched beyond 20% capacity so no issue there.
Also, no cache issue.

As I alsao noted, disabling this plugin cures the white screen issue

Have you any other suggestions?

Unfortunately my problem has reappeared, and once again no changes other than WordPress updates have been made.

Thom, it would be really helpful if you could at least let us know if you intend to support this plugin, release a premium version, or just let it fade away.

I have already stated I would be happy to pay for a premium version, but I can’t hang on indefinitely while not knowing your intentions.

I fully understand if you do not have time to progress the work any further, but could you perhaps find a few moments to inform us what’s happening with it?

I seem to have stumbled on a solution, but it still leaves unanswered questions and is only partially working.

Disabling another plugin, which incidentaly has not been changed and has lived happily alongside Fileaway for several years has allowed PDFs to be downloaded.

However, despite having the New Window setting selected, only download is happening with no option to open onsite

I have also tried the flightbox shortcode to no avail.

Can you throw any light on this please Thom ?

One further point…
I know you are grinding away with the aim of releasing a paid for version of this great plugin.
I would be happy to pay.

Here is the problem

Wordfence, the most widely used WordPress security plugin complains about plugins that have not been modified for two years and verified as compatible with currrent WordPress version, and describes them as potentiallly abandoned.

Your plugin falls into that category

Contact Form 7 is a fabulous plugin, unfortunately for this author I never buy upgrades or “pro” versions when I see multiple unanswered questions on support issues

I can live without it and I will continue to buy from authors who provide support for both their free and paid plugins

I have double checked the main server php.ini file and the domain php settings do not conflict with the main file, they are in fact the same.
