In reply to: [AMP for WP - Accelerated Mobile Pages] PHP 8 Fatal Error after latest updateP.S.: This is so unprofessional. How can you release and update with such a bug?
If I hadn’t checked my analytics before bedtime. It would have ruined a lot of traffic and got lots of Google Search Console amp errors.

In reply to: [AMP for WP - Accelerated Mobile Pages] PHP 8 Fatal Error after latest updateSame problem here. The last update returns fatal error to all AMP pages:
Safari couldn’t load this page! Fatal Error.
Tip: For all others affected. I temporary redirected all my amp pages to normal url using Rank Math:

Many thanks for the help. This is solved now!
Update:
A new PWA for WP update was just issued in my wp-admin panel and I updated to Version 1.7.17.1.
I notice this in the update log:
Bug Fixed : Site Icon from Customizer is duplicating the icon meta tag resulting in different icon on homescreen #442Could this be the fix?
I just check the mobile Google search and my favicon is back. Not sure if the update had an impact. I checked about 30 minutes after updating.- This reply was modified 4 years, 8 months ago by solaris13.
I think that it’s available here. Correct?

I am not claiming that you’re removing anything. Perhaps PWA ads some icon meta tags, to some that already are present from the site theme or other plugins and it causes confusion to Google.
As mentioned in the initial post, this problem is widespread as I notice that many websites display the default globe favicon in mobile Google Search results.
In my case the same favicon was displayed ever since Google introduced the feature for mobile Search Results. I noticed it was swapped with the default one only after I installed PWA for WP plugin.
Could Google handle websites with PWA support differently? I checked in Google Search Console and the favicon is displayed there. It’s also available in browsers, as well as on iPhone or Android as icon when I add the website to the Home Screen.
