You are awesome! I was able to get it to work.

    Thanks for quick response back.

With the growing demand for high resolution devices, I’m looking to offer images that will look great in 5K resolution. You are probably right about reducing the size of the image by lowering the quality a bit. I’ll have to experiment to reduce the size, but I doubt I’ll be able to bring it down to 2MB though.

And yes, those image sizes are primarily for retina display. Those images by default were set to 800px and 360px, but I doubled it to make it look good on retina. I wasn’t able to get your retina plugin to work correctly with my current theme and this solution was my work around that issue.

I’m looking into ways of making this process easier for myself.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, it’s the long way of doing it, but I don’t think I have much of a choice.

One photo is needed for featured image which is 760px in width and I need a photo width of 1600px inside the post. Lastly, since I’m offering free photos at full resolution, it’s not a good idea to upload it to the media gallery file considering the size could be around 15MB.

The featured images are exported at a lower quality to reduce the size of the photo. I don’t want the site load times to be affected too much.

I could possibly reduce the overall process to just two photos. One full resolution and one that could be used as featured image and inside the post.

    Hi Jordy,

Interesting plugin. I started using Lightroom very recently and I’m not experienced with it yet. So I might not be the best person to test out the plugin.

Currently I generate 3 different size images for each of my posts.
    1. Featured image – Upload to media library
    2. Inside the post – Upload to media library
    3. Full resolution for downloading – Upload using FTP to a custom directory.

I generate them using Photoshop and upload accordingly. I’m not too sure if this plugin will help improve the process.

Your investigation into the matter helped resolve the issue. otherwise, I would of had to pay a developer to look into the matter anyways.

At the end of the day, the problem is resolved and the theme supports Retina. I’m more than happy with the result ??

    Hi Jordy,

I was able to tweak my theme to accept images twice the size and display them in half the size. Though your plugin would of been an easier solution.

I have to tell you, I’ve never experienced support like this before! You are very prompt with your responses, provided helpful tips, and took your time to investigate the issue with my theme.

Thank you so much for all your time and assistance. Just made a donation as a small token of appreciation! Keep up the great work.

    Hi Jordy,

I contacted the developer and still waiting to hear back.

I’m tinkering around with the crop size for the featured images as to doubling the size and adjusting it to half the size in CSS.

Thanks for following up. I’ll let you know once I hear something back.

Staging environment is facing the same issue.

I initially didn’t touch any of the changes you made yesterday, but I didn’t notice any change in the image resolution when I viewed it on my iPhone. So I decided to perform the update, delete bulk and generate bulk again.

No, I don’t have it enabled in the Admin in Retina enabled. I tried enabling it and disabling it, still get the same result.

    So here’s what’s happening.

I performed a Bulk Delete and hit Refresh. All the thumbnails under the Retina menu options show up as they should (under the Issues menu).

When I hit Bulk Generate, all the thumbnails disappear from the Retina menu, and I see a green check mark under the Retina column under the Media menu option. But, when I test it out on my iPhone, I don’t see any difference in the images.

If I hit Bulk Delete again, all the thumbnails show up again.

I’ll have to talk to the theme developer to see what’s going on.

Thank you again for the detailed explanation.

I followed your steps and everything appears to be working with the default theme. However, it doesn’t seem to be working with my current theme.

Soon as I activate my current theme, all the thumbnails in the Retina option disappears and the yellow triangular exclamation mark appears in the Media menu under the Retina column.

I guess I’ll have to reach out to the theme developer to see if he can help resolve this issue.

I really need this plugin and I will purchase it soon I can get this issue with my theme resolved. Thanks again for everything.

Thank you so much for the incredible support.

I actually uploaded the photos after the theme was installed. So I don’t believe that would be the issue.

Also, the plugin is still behaving a bit strange. I have to click on “Retina” option under the Media menu to produce the photos with issues. If I click on the “Issues” option at the top, everything disappears.

Also, I saw that there was an update available for this plugin, so I updated it on my main site I still can’t generate the thumbnails. May I ask what you did to produce the thumbnails on my staging site?

It’s a bit strange…but it has something to do with the file name. When you are selecting a featured image, you cannot have ‘+’ in the file name or place any text in the ‘Alternate Text’ field.

For an example, my featured image file name was Credit+Card+Icons.jpg and I had to delete the image altogether, rename the file without the ‘+’ signs (so it becomes Credit Card Icons.jpg). Re-upload the image and set it as the featured image again. Make sure to leave the ‘Alternate Text’ field blank as well.

    Hope this helps.
