hamiton22, I’m right there with you. The “automatically close comments” keeps checking itself again randomly, after days or weeks. I’ve even tried changing the number of days to 1000 but that gets reset to 28 too!

I’m also in a situation where I can’t disable all plugins, because it isn’t a re-creatable problem, and I can’t leave everything off for days or weeks.

Perhaps we can narrow this down by comparing our plugins? Any we have in common could be a lead.

Here’s what I have active:
– Akismet Anti-Spam
– Anti-Malware Security and Brute-Force Firewall
– Exploit Scanner
– Get Custom Field Values
– Google XML Sitemaps
– Magic-fields
– Move Comments
– Post-Plugin Library
– Similar Posts
– Twitter Tools
– WP Super Cache

Thanks for the reply, t-p. Unfortunately, this problem exists randomly, sometimes after days or weeks, and I can’t recreate it at will. I won’t be able to leave my plugins off or switch themes for that long, and I wouldn’t really know if it’s fixed or just hasn’t happened yet :/

Regardless, I’m glad to hear it’s not part of the WP core. I will poke around online and see if this is a known bug in any of the plugins I have.

barryemma, would you mind listing the plugins you have installed? Maybe if you and I both have the same one, we can narrow it down that way?
