Well maybe….I re-installed the files a couples of times and kept having the same trouble until I found that space.
I posted this because many people have the same error codes I had and the suggestions to fix them didn’t work for me. P.S. There is no ‘?>’ at the end of the file either, like there is supposed to be. But it works, so I am not sure. Another option that hopefully someone can use.
Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: What does “Unzip the package in an empty directory.” mean?Hi Carol,
I am assuming you want to run your blog on your website that is hosted by a company, like Go Daddy as an example. A hosting company is different than using your Mac as a server.
If you want to upload your Word Press blog into your website server of the company, like Go Daddy for example, then maybe I can help.
You need to download the files from WordPress on the website’s ‘Download’ tab.
My Mac automatically unzips the file and stores it in my ‘Downloads Folder’.
Now, you need an FTP program to upload the files from your computer to the company’s server that hosts your website. I use an FTP program called Fetch (for Macs). It works great!
After using your ftp program to log into your website hosting company’s server then you are almost ready to start uploading files.
I created a folder on my web server called ‘blog’ I know a very original name ??
Then I double click on this folder, which is currently empty. Then I click ‘put’ in Fetch. A window comes up, looks like a window for saving documents in word, excel, or any other program.
Go to the ‘downloads’ folder and double click on ‘wordpress’. Now select all those files and click ‘put’. This will upload all of the files into the subdirectory folder called ‘blog’
So my website is normally https://www.seanscarpetcare.com
to find my blog it would be https://www.seanscarpetcare.com/blog
Now you need to go back and setup a database, which should be part of your web hosting service. Then modify the wp-sample-config.php file and save it as wp-config.php like the wordpress instructions say.
Then you need to re-upload that file after you have modified it. THen you should be ready to go! Hope this helps!
