The swatches and variations plugin will do this for you. See WooThemes Extensions. It’s a good plugin and it works well. I use it for swatches but I’ve tested it with photos too. Click on the thumbnail (or even a swatch) and a related photo will show in the featured image.

I couldn’t find a global setting, but on the individual product page there are a few options.

This is found in the right hand column (the PUBLISH column).

You can set Visibility to private, which means it won’t appear in the shop.

There are four options there for Catalog Visibility, one of which is hidden.

That should do it for you!

I didn’t know why none of my products were showing up on the shop page as I had them all set to private!

Also, go to WooCommerce Settings, Catalog tab
Under heading “Product Data” de-select Enable ratings on reviews

Ok, this works, just needed to know how to find the category ids!

Now I can dress up the page : )

It should be in the individual product settings.

Edit under Product Data – Advanced, tick the reviews box if you want reviews, don’t tick if you don’t want reviews.

There’s a way to disable them altogether but I forget where that code is, you have to edit the php file.

The tab shouldn’t appear if there are no reviews.

I want to make another page, not a shop page, in which I want to display a specific categories and its category thumbnail, not all categories (like the shop page), and I don’t want the category products to display (like the shortcode suggestion on woo).

Example:
Widget Store
Sells Big, Small Tiny Widgets
Shop shows these three categories
If you click on small widgets, you get a page with all of the small widget products (green, blue, etc).

Let’s say I just want a single page (separate from the shop page) that shows just the small widget category and its thumbnail (but not products within it, such as green small widget, blue small widget, etc.)

If I add a shortcode with just category using the woo documentation, it will show all the small widget products within this category. This is not what I want.

Is that clear? It’s a very specific request.

Or are you saying I can have multiple shop pages? That would be confusing.

You can edit your WooCommerce settings (Settings, Catalog) so that you do have dimensions entered for shipping calculations, but also choose not to show these on the “additional information” tab.

Figured out how to do this using google inspect tool.

Is there a way to just add categories to a page? I don’t have ids for the categories, and I’ve tried what’s suggested here, so I’m wondering how to do this?

To be specific, instead of the shop page, I’d like to set up a page which just shows a few of the shop categories.

Couldn’t you use Smush-it manually (on Yahoo) and then upload your files?

I think you would have to add it in the product short description.

Check extension works for plugins. They have a YouTube tutorial for the Canada Post one, for example, were you can set up shipping classes and have different shipping classes for different products, even for product variations. So flat rate shipping would be possible. I can’t say anything about table rate shipping as I needed more accurate quotes. But the plugin is working great for me.

Well, this issue isn’t resolved, so I deleted this plugin.

I got another shipping plugin by Extension Works, free chat support, YouTube tutorial, and email support. It is giving me accurate rates from my commercial account as well as allowing me to define box sizes.

Thank goodness I can move on from this. It’s been a real pain in the you-know-where without any support.
