  • I would be interested in the response to this as I have been waiting for WooCommerce to address an issue with checkout since Feb 21st (I have a support ticket).

I also deactivated the Apple Pay function in the WooCommerce Canada Post shipping method plugin.

I am suspicious now because the checkout issue started happening around the time the Stripe/Apple Pay plugin was released. Since there was a major Canada Post outtage at the time, it wasn’t clear that there could be a link.

From looking at the changelog in the Stripe/Apple Pay plugin, it seems perhaps there is.

lukem15, did you find out what was wrong?

We have a workaround for this:

Generate another order for the extra payment, and set the payment page link (from the new order) to the customer. Set up a misc charge (a virtual item). Put the original order on hold manually until the customer pays for the extra.

I would be interested in seeing a solution to this too, as customers often want to add things to their original order rather than placing another order (and incurring extra shipping charges).

It seems you’ve only got tax calculating on the shipping charges of $59, so perhap it’s not set up properly.

    Go into your WooCommerce settings
You need to have both country and the state set up first
    Then:
    Click on the “TAX” tab
Click on “Standard Rates” (below the TAX tab)

You should have the following set up for Michigan taxes
    Country: US
    State: MI
    Zip: *
    City: *
    Rate: 6.0000 (%)
    Tax Name: Michigan (6%)
    Priority: 1
    Compound: (don’t select)
    Shipping: (select this)

    That should do it.

    Askimet update 3.1.2
    Release Date – 7 June 2015
    Included in release per changelog:
“Pre-emptive security improvements to ensure that the Akismet plugin can’t be used by attackers to compromise a WordPress installation”

You have flat rate selected under “shipping options” in general and you have it set up on the flat rate tab as well.

Have you enabled the shipping calculations (we have the first three options enabled).

Is the sell-to country missing under shipping options?

Is the product hidden at all?

Check what’s set up in the customer default address as well (default to billing, geolocation, etc.

That’s all I can think of at the moment.

Please put your request on another post, please. This one is for “How to add US States”.

    Thanks.

That would have been my answer too, had I ever figured it out LOL

My friend complained they are getting unsolicited spam emails from you promoting your plugin. That’s not very cool.

You could set up a product of with extra rope. We sell product A and product B, and can ship them separately, but we offer a combination C which is product A and B, at a combined shipping rate.

    hope that makes sense!

    Product: swing
    Product: rope
    Product: swing with extra rope

What shipping methods do you have set up in your settings under shipping tab?

I’m using the swatches and variations plugin, so not sure if this is in the plugin or native woocommerce.

In the individual product page, I can go to advanced settings and add a purchase note by product. This will show up on the email for that product. I don’t use invoices or html emails, just text.

Since it’s not unique per variation, perhaps that’s something you might have already.

Not an expert, just a fellow woo-er. My advice is worth what you paid for it!

    Hi Catchy Copy,

You don’t want to know how I got my experience, but I have made many, many, many mistakes in the course of my computer and business career.

I used to work for a big Japanese auto maker and they considered mistakes to be assets. At first it was humiliating but later I realized that every mistake is a learning experience.

It’s just tough out on the internet wild west where mistakes are so obvious. But one of my customers said it best: “we can forgive the odd link error in a newsletter when the quality of your products is so good!”

    Cheers,

    Hi Catchy Copy,

Any advice you get here from me is just a suggestion and no guarantee that it will work. I have a site hosted at wpengine and one of the features of their hosting is that you can copy your site to a staging area and do testing there rather than on a live site.

First rule of thumb is to always back everything up OFF your site. Don’t work on your live site unless you’ve tested things offsite (staging site or on your desktop using other programs).

Second rule of thumb THAT I FOLLOW is to never update to a new version of anything without letting someone else try it first. I don’t have time to waste debugging programs, otherwise I would sign up to be a beta tester.

So read the forums before updating and listen to what’s being said. Every post here has been marked [resolved] and this appears to be part of optics (aka window dressing) for the developer here.

For your lost images (and yes, ours were gone. We had to get a backup from wpengine, not even from the staging site), you will have to do something else.

Take some iphone shots if necessary. Get a friend to help.
Put up a “photo coming soon” image instead – use a graphics program to design this or get a friend to help. I have one product that I’ve never had a photo of and I’ve been selling them for several years.

Use some of the freebie stock photos sites if that helps. Creative commons, istockphoto, shutterstock, envato all have some occasional freebies.

I’m sorry you’re in this stage, I’ve been there before – I was just lucky to catch the images missing one morning and we had it resolved in a few hours.

    Good luck.

Terrific! Thanks George! I’ve downloaded 2.7.4 and I will have a look at this tomorrow. I appreciate your work on this.

I am using google’s data highlighter for products at the moment, but I look forward to seeing this implemented when you have time.

I’ll get to that coffee donation on the weekend.
    Thanks!
