I hope someone is still monitoring this thread. Really Simple Share seems to be causing the UserBase pop-up on my site. I have the most up-to-date RSS plug-in.

Any suggestion for another simple plug-in for sharing?

What in the world is the user base anyway?

I no longer get a pencil to edit my image and can’t find advanced options anywhere.

esmi – I was able to find instructions for changing my old URL back to my new URL (hurray I learned something new).

But even the importing of the database from my hard drive is missing all of my 2011 posts and pages.

Am I just stuck? Or is it possible that one of the other sql files has the information I’m look for? Is there a way to look in those files before I try to import into my WP site?

Yes, I did — using import in the WP dashboard. However, because the database probably has something that points to the old URL, I can’t get to the wp-admin to restore the backup.

Oh dear — that didn’t work.

It’s now pointing to an old URL — which I changed at the time I moved the site to a new host. And the theme is gone.

Any way I can undo what I just did —

I used phpMyAdmin and imported the recommended file.

Prior to do that I exported the current site information to my hard drive through the WP-admin. I can’t get back to wp-admin to restore what I had.

Oh, I was afraid I would mess things up.

Thank you again, esmi. I’m sorry I’m asking so many questions. This hosting move has been less than ideal and the companies support doesn’t handle WP questions. I want to be sure I don’t mess things up further.

If I import the .sql file you suggest, does it overwrite all the other files, such as wp-comments, wp-links,wp-content, etc.?

Do you recommend exporting these files back to my hard drive before importing the .sql file? Or should I make a backup through WP dashboard?

I have read those instructions, and others, numerous times and am still confused as to exactly what I should be importing.

I have

blogbooksbackup 10.6.186.122.sql.sql
blo0925806462428.sql
blo0925806462428.sql.log

(The last two are are in a folder titles _db_backups.)

I also have all of the various files that begin with “wp-“

At this point my theme, plugins, and some of my post are fine. Because I’ve already had so many problems with this move from one hosting company to another, I don’t want to further mess things up.

I have read “Restoring Your Database from Backup”

I think my biggest problem is I don’t know exactly what the database is.
