I’ve been going crazy with website crashes and slow loads (longer than 30 seconds). I was going to hire someone, when I found this post.

And it worked. Almost instantly. Pages now load in 1 second, maybe faster.

I’m finding the same problem. I’ve had to just type in the focus words in the google search box, but that’s inconvenient.

I appreciate the answer, but I read the link to “Changing the site URL” prior to posting here. I found it confusing and highly technical.

Not everyone trying to work with WordPress is a programmer or technical expert. I struggle along as best I can.

Maybe someone who is an amateur like me can point out a quick and reliable method to change the URL that doesn’t require tearing into obscure codes in my cPanel.

When I use the “more” tag, it creates a break in the article into two parts. It does not create a sub-page or anything. On the Front Page of my WordPress blog, only the paragraphs up to the “more” tag are published.

However, when I use your plugin, the Front page includes the whole article, which would make the Front Page completely unwieldy. It would be huge, making the user experience difficult.

I cannot use the more tag with your plugin. First, it doesn’t work. But even if it did, the more tag adds a link to the full article from the Front Page.

I hope you get an answer. I want to do the same, but I read nothing but horror stories, and disaster. I need to leave my current host to a new one soon, since I’m hitting the upper limits of my bandwidth.

I wish we could get some handholding (not necessarily do our work), but some of us are not SQL experts. I’m sorry worried about this change.

What should I ask them? Reset the SQL server?

And now it’s working again, and the Web Host claims they’ve done nothing.

What is going on here? Right now I can access every post, my dashboard is completely functional, etc.

When I first started out, I wanted to create a full website with a blog page. So my website is:

The web authoring software I’m using, Rapid Weaver, does include a blogging “page”, but it is ridiculously behind the times, has poor SEO tools (well none), and has some quirks that are really annoying like loading all posts on one page, so it could be huge.

There is a plugin for RapidWeaver to create a WordPress blog within the shell of the web authoring tool. It has worked for years through two websites, so I’ve stuck with that.

However, I’ve noticed that I can get WordPress themes that have tabs, so I can set up a website with a nice blog page. I just don’t have the skills to convert it without massive 404 errors, etc. I wish I could start over, and if someone has an idea on how to do that, I’d love it. Right now, I’ve got edit my blog through dashboard, but any fine tuning of the website requires me to use RapidWeaver. Ugh.

I’m contacting the hosting service. They really are claiming it’s my fault, but when they reset the server, it did work.

Please read what I posted there again. Try repairing database after reverting to the WordPress default theme with all plugins off. You need not go to your dashboard. You can do the changes by using FTP, hosting control panel, or PhpMyAdmin.

I’m having the same exact problem with an error that says “Error establishing a database connection.” Since I cannot access the dashboard, what are the “hosting control panel, FT, or PhpMyAdmin?”
