    gbowman, you have my attention.

I found the same thing. We now just make sure our question titles are not too long. Odd glitch / bug though. Especially as it says “Question Saved”, but really isn’t.

    Thanks for writing back.

Unfortuneatly that is how I already had things configured. It even shows the already entered “Nom de famille” as the corect translation for “Last name”, but the system just doesn’t display it as such.

To make matters even more odd, it is displaying “Informations de contact” correctly in French. Even the password strenght indicator is displaying properly in French. Next level of odd… I can go in throguh string translation and change the France French terms that are dispalyed to our local Quebec French terms and it accepts those perfectly fine with no problem.

Also, The widget name refuses to accept the French title I added; it just show the English one.

Basically, if it is a field that an admin could play around with for whatever reason, I’m stuck in English, even though in string translation it shows clearly the French text. If it is a field that will probably always be the same, it is happy doing the automatic transaltion to French.

Here’s a link to the French registration page to show you more clearly what I am talking about.

Any insights you can give will be greatly appreciated.

I’d also really like to know the answer to that one. Can’t seem to get it to allow users to have a field for open ended answers of their own writing.

What I found was that an achievment that required steps would mostly work.

I would visit a main badge that had required steps, saw those steps in the list at the bottom of the achievemtn page, then complete a few of the steps. When I returned to the main badge, it did not have the compelted steps crossed off of the list. If I then cleared the cache and reloaded the page, suddenly the steps I compelted were crossed off.

As soon as I put those achievement type / folder section of the URL into the exclusion list, the completed steps badges worked perfectly each time.

Realted: we are also using the “Congratualtions!” plugin and it is still activating without problem with and withour being listed in the exclusion list in WP Super Cache.

Yes, they are excluded from the “non earned” view.

To sum up: Excluded achievments seem to be excluded from “All” and “Not Compelted”, but if completed, they override the exclusion and are shown.

Our idea was to have all of the required steps and the “bonus points” achievements be in the same folder / achievement type for our behind the scenes orgainzation, so that we could easily see what was associated with what parent achievement, but not have them displayed with the rest in the “my completed badges”, which was going to go in another area. In the end, I will just create their own achievement type and make it as clear as possible for the other admins on the site. Hope that made sense.

    Thanks

Just to let you know in case anyone ever asks again, I’ve been using the WP Super Cache plugin for a few weeks now and it works fine with BadgeOS… as long as you put the achievement type part of the URL into WP Super Cache’s list of “Accepted Filenames & Rejected URIs” in the advanced settings. Don’t even need to put in the full URL; literally just:

    /mes-badges/
    /my-badges/

Or whatever the acheivement type names are. Same applies for any page that has a BadgeOS achievement display shortcode on it.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direcetion. lol. wow. totally missed that.

What I’ve done for now is just created a page called “My Badges” that has a large widget area in the middle and placed the existing Earned User Achievements widget there. If the acheivement list display shortcode ever gets changed to allow it to display “completed” by default, I’ll go in that direction.

Oh, I tried the excluding line in the short code and it was good for excluding those achievements from the “all”, but they still showed up in the “completed” display. So, it is not a total exclusion? Or am I just confused?

    Thanks again for your help.

I added the site to my Diigo for future reference. I am sure it will come in very useful over the coming months.

Thanks for the shortcode for excluding.

Are you sure that is the right URL for the more shortcode help? It brought me to a page asking if I wanted to register my own URL and website. That or my browser is being buggy.

Thanks for that article! It, and the rest of that site, are much appreciated.

I am wondering if I am just looking at this too complicatedly… the stardard List of Achievements shortcode is pretty good as is… but is there anyway to force the filter to “completed” as the default instead of “all”? I’m guessing it is just going alphabetically. While not perfect, it would be great for my users in the short term.

Also, in the BadgeOS shortcode embeder, it shows that I can exclude certain achievement IDs, but the system just spins and does nothing. What would a line look like for an excluded achievement ID? I’ll just add it into the short code string manually. I didn’t see an example of what it would look like on the badgeOS shortcode list.

ah. So it doesn’t work in the same way as the “BadgeOS User Earned Achievements” widget in the base BadgeOS plugin then? The Community list will show all the availble achievements (within the specificied type) and not limit it to the ones they have been completed / earned?

Honestly, even just having a page that worked the same way as the widget (that showed only the earned achievements from a specified type) would be great. I guess that for now I will have to try building that myself using some of the code in the widget as a base, but this is something that I would sugest for upcoming versions of BadgeOS. Or does this already exist and I just blindly missed it… that is possible.

Same problem with me. It also just freezes the page when I try to either access media library or editor box.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll see how it goes over the next couple weeks and post here should others have similar questions in the future.

I will see about having SuperCache exclude the specific badges where there would be pop ups (i.e. those achievements that we have set to trigger the pop-ups or other conditional elements).

    Ah! That would explain it.

    Thanks for the information.

Any idea if Jetpack will eventally allow a “Reblog” function like in WordPress.com? That would solve most of my blog users’ issues.
