In reply to: [Contact Form 7] Exclusive Checkbox – But Can Choose Multiple CheckboxesUh-oh… That’s what happens when you inherit a site, I guess ?? Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll have to go the radio button route instead, I suppose.
Your help is appreciated!

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Event Ordering by Time – Noon seems to confuse QEMOK, this tweak has done the trick, thank you.
I can see that a problem arises from my using what is regarded as 24-hour formatting to express the time (i.e. I should say 12:00-14:00, not 12:00-2:00). I don’t like to use 24-hour expression, as a slip of the brain in many people will somehow ‘see’ something like, 16:00 as six o’clock.
Just to be clear: QEM regards 12:00 as noon; noon is 12 pm; midnight is 12 am; and 00:00 in the 24-hour clock – correct?
Thank you for your help – much appreciated.

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Event Ordering by Time – Noon seems to confuse QEMThe inclusion of the pm was the final my attempts to get the order right. I have reverted to my previous format which was to use the first field only in Time and input 12.00-2:00 for the first event and 2:00-3:30 for the second event. (I have also used the first field for start time and second field for end, which makes no difference to the ordering of the events.)
In a further attempt to get them ordered, I also edited the Published date so that the second event was published after the first (the later event was in fact added to the events list before the earlier event).
As you can see at https://religion.utoronto.ca/, they still refuse to play nice!

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Default sidebar displaying when it didn't before<embarrassed> Just before I got a response from the theme publisher, I realized that, in fact, the choice of layout options had been available all along. The section was not expanded and I simply didn’t see it – a selective blindess that has wasted much time and for which I don’t have any real explanation. Selective stupidity, perhaps.
Anyway, all is good. Sorry for bothering you.

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Link from event post to see list of all events? My sincere apologies for not getting back to you re the update you took the time and effort to send me. I have been really busy and kept thinking I would get around to it, but failed to do so. I very much appreciate your willingness to investigate and help out, and just wanted you to know that I’m not ungrateful, just have too many things on my plate!

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Default sidebar displaying when it didn't beforeI only have the option to select page layouts for regular posts. For QEM posts, which are custom posts, the option does not appear.
I have taken this up with the theme publisher (WPZoom, Academic Pro theme) to see what they have to say. So far, they have said this would require customization not covered by their support but that there might be a workaround to hide the right sidebar and make the content area wider. At their request I have sent a link to the problematic layout, and am waiting to hear back.

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Default sidebar displaying when it didn't beforeYes, the link you cite is okay. In fact, in the events that are currently listed, the only one that was created recently is the problematic one with the right sidebar showing. I did all the others in a oner a while back.
The only thing that has changed is that QEM has been updated – hence my question to you! It sounds like you are saying that, in fact, it was working in an unexpected way before and is only now working as you would expect. Is that what you mean?
I’m mystified. While I can see that this should be nothing to do with QEM, the fact is that it has only changed when QEM changed. Oh well, I guess I am stuck. Thanks for taking a look, though.
I am interested that you suggest using the Q2W3 Fixed Widget plugin with Custom Sidebars, because when I tried it all my Custom Sidebars stopped showing! I just wanted to have a few Custom Sidebars be fixed, to help with the navigation of long pages.
If your experience is that Q2W3 works with Custom Sidebars, is there something specific I should know about that might be preventing it working? I looked in the Q2W3 support, but I don’t see this issue there.
It seems like such a simple thing, wanting a custom floating sidebar, but finding a solution just isn’t happening ??
Thank you!

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Link from event post to see list of all events?OK, I have a solution. I have added a sidebar for events postings, which lists all the events.
I’m still curious, though, whether there is something built-in for what I was asking about.
Cheers.

In reply to: [Simple Yearly Archive] Current year omitted from one yearly archive listingSo, going forward, if I wanted to have SYA list all the Events posts, I’d have to go back and recreate the old ones in QEM and then get SYA to list custom post types for Events?
It’d be more efficient to change the QEM ones to regular posts and drop QEM, but I don’t know how to get an events listing going that will allow me to put them in the left-hand sidebar as I do now. Some research is in order, obviously… (Any suggestions gratefully received ??
I do thank you for your attention to this – your swift responses are very much appreciated.

In reply to: [Simple Yearly Archive] Current year omitted from one yearly archive listingI’ve done a bit more digging. It isn’t actually a year thing – there are other 2013 events not showing either. The ones not showing are ones entered using the Quick Event Manager plugin, which I assume produces a custom post. These events do not show up in the Posts listing, however. When creating an event in QEM, I also tick the Events category so I assumed that SYA would pick it up.
The paths are different, though: pre-QEM the path is like this:
https://religion.utoronto.ca/religions-social-innovation-conference/
Post-QEM the path is like this – (this is one of the ones not showing up in the listing):
https://religion.utoronto.ca/event/into-the-divide/
So, SYA doesn’t just look simply for a category then? Is that the problem? All the events show up when I do a straightforward category listing, i.e., https://religion.utoronto.ca/category/events/.
Waaah!

In reply to: [Quick Event Manager] Change line height of event title?I tried what you provided (having thought to myself, well, of course, it’s the link that needs specific styling – how silly of me!).
But, weirdly, I cannot reduce the line height using this code – I can increase it, say, to 300% and it has a very clear effect. I reduced it to something silly like 20% and it doesn’t change.
(And just FYI, I have tried it in both my style.css and in the custom CSS bit in the QEM plugin – no luck in either location.)
It is a minor thing – just puzzling, because the line height I set in the p worked fine.

In reply to: [OpenBook Book Data] Conflicts with Media LibraryWhatever the problem was, it’s nothing to do with this plugin. Sorry for the confusion. This plugin is now working fine on my site, after I deleted inactive plugins and updated active ones. Presumably, some kind of unfortunate interaction somewhere.
