I can’t even access permalinks. Whenever I attempt to, I get the same above-mentioned error message that comes up when I pull the home psge.

Actually, a very good question, and I’m afraid you may have hit the nail on the head. I asked a friend to log in to the site from his I-pod, and he successfully found it with no administrator privileges. This is embarrassing, but I’ve never done this before and can occasionally display a painful learning curve. Thanks very much for your help.
