Thanx Tim for your support ??
I apologize for the missing end of that story. After I deleted another plugin (= ProfilePress) the popup for the 2FAcode reappeared. And the plugin wordfence works now – since then.
A troublemaker, ProfilePress, I should have recognised earlier …
Yes, it seems wordfence is blocking the 2FA-popup.
with FTP go to the wordpressTree:
wp-content/plugins/
rename folder wordfence to wordfence-something
login to the website: no 2FA required, so wordfencePlugin doesn’t show up anymore
as long as in admin-mode restore the name of the pluginFolder to wordfence
reload the page and the wordfencePlugin reappearsAt this point I liberated one of my adminLogins from 2FA
= to have one less complicated access for the next couple daysIt’s even worse: after the connection issue with my 3rd website I can’t no longer login to my other websites (with plugin wordfence) as well.
If my password is not correct, I get an errormessage in red.
But with the correct password only the same 2FA-message appears:CODE REQUIRED: Please provide your 2FA code when prompted.
It looks like wordfence is blocking all my websites with the installed plugin.
Even those allready registered in the dashboard of wordfence.com/central.
I am receiving emails telling me to upgrade to premium.
So, this blocking might be the commercial strategy of wordfence.com …hence resolved …
hello again:
my solution:
delete the entry in wordfence central an register my site againIt worked ??
