I can get into the dashboard. The theme is the same one I’ve been using but I think I did an upgrade since my last post, so the plugin angle seems to fit. But if that doesn’t pan out, I’ll change themes.

If that doesn’t work, I’ll be back! Will post either way.

Thanks. It didn’t work the first time — but — it didn’t say to choose MD5 from the drop-down box. Once I chose that, it worked.

If it said to, I missed it!

But if I do it that way — thank you — I won’t have a backup of the file if I screw up. My way I always have a backup .. just in case.

Strangely, my designer says she has the same issue, though I don’t know how she managed to update files if she can’t see them.

The sidebar widgets lets me add to the menu, not delete or at least edit/rename. i.e. Menu Header is for Google AdSense, I want to edit it to My Title or delete it.

It took weeks to find this theme. My site (don’t want to publicly post the URL yet) is VERY specific to an item so can’t find a lot of themes. Or, they were for older versions of WP.

I’ve always used custom themes but, in the past, money was no object.

Thanks. My theme allows me to add to the sidebar, not edit/delete. Appearance/Menus has no option to edit the header links.

So, is there a file I can edit without breaking the theme, like in the olden days?!?!

Someone has to know! Due to horrific illness my memory has been affected. I used to know this software thoroughly. It is very frustrating to have forgotten a program I used every day for years,

Still no solution? My site is live but I still can’t update on the netbook. This is a serious issue as I can’t scroll down, for example, through categories.

Watching the FTP go through now, same errors flying by.

So once they are in the right folder all will be ok? But why errors on only certain types of files?

I’m not accessing them, just FTPing them over.. But if the directory was wrong, wouldn’t every file err out?

This is just a temp directory transfer, btw. Once they are on the server I’ll move them.

I installed twenty-eleven and my post shows up on the website but not in the admin area when using mt netbook.

Ok, this gets even weirder. On my netbook , nothing shows and you cannot add a category . Netbook uses Windows 7 Home Premium. (I should correct that. No TEXT shows. In two places you see a red squiggly line).

On my new iPad , text shows! Add Category won’t work, though.

I haven’t found an FTP program for the iPad so I can’t delete index.html to see if the page shows with a theme. Tomorrow …

Why will it show on a different OS??

BTW, no one else has access to my sites so missing files came that way. Or, rather, didn’t come at all!
