In reply to: Restoring After HackThe dates on the files plus I don’t want to lose the content. I’ve searched for someone to fix this but have been unable to find qualified people for a reasonable price.
Cani do what I asked without problems?

In reply to: Edit Login PageI’ve used it but wasn’t impressed. I prefer a Captcha script as bots will have a hard time with it.

In reply to: Edit Login PageThanks. Which plugin do you suggest? I’m trying to do both, stop bot registrations and brute force logins. I have plugins that stops brute forces at three attempts then a 24-hour ban. But one plugin doing both would use less resources and limit my plugins.
I’ve got one guy using the same ip for weeks, trying to get one site with Admin123. Every 24 hours he’s back. I’ve not banned his ip as I want to see how long he’ll try. And, no, there is no Admin******* ??

In reply to: Edit Login PageNo one knows which file to edit and where the linking text goes? Someone please help out a non-newbie but amnesia victim. I sort of want to backup the original and just keep attempting to place it … but part of me is a little afraid of really screwing up my sites. I’d rather learn than pay a freelancer

In reply to: Edit Login PageI want to add a Captcha script that was done for me a while back. I have the linking text and linking image text but need to know where on the login page it goes. Need the file name, too. I will center the code so the image shows properly but I want it where I stated above.

In reply to: Odd errorIt’s a custom theme but it’s been fine for months. I’ll try all you suggested but is this a major issue or one to ignore? I mean, it’s just the cache file, right?
Offhand I’d say only a couple of plugins are active since the site isn’t open yet. Just checked and deactivated all five.
I checked yesterday’s error log more carefully. Ten times it erred. Every hour or two it happens. The only other errors are people trying to login but no users are in the db.

In reply to: UnexpectedThat’s one theme only’ but why did that error start appearing after a year? Why does every site have that error, or half my sites rather?

In reply to: Lost sidebar and maybe access?I changed FTP program and was able to get in, reset the db, see I was admin and only user. The site seems okay now.

In reply to: Lost sidebar and maybe access?Phpmyadmin didn’t let me in. I. Changed passes and yeah, it broke it all. I asked my host last night to fix the config file and tell me from error logs why phpmyadmin won’t let me in. I just emailed them again. I was the only user and admin. Error logs stopped 2/23 so my host needs to fix that, too. .

In reply to: Error establishing database connection problemHost finally got back to me. They reinstalled and all is good. They never tell me what was causing errors. The odd errors in the log don’t make sense

In reply to: Error establishing database connection problemThe only pass I have is db. WordPress not installed yet and I’m using Windows or iOS.
I checked ten blogs and all use hostingdb.*

In reply to: Error establishing database connectionThere were two I’ve just deleted. Backup Guard and …not remembering. But in searching for plugins those were checked as compatible with my version.
I installed three others fine and will test each on daily, email backup
