In reply to: How to NOT display post image (Text & Image seperately)OK, it seems it’s just me wondering about this, but if anyone else should come across this thread wondering the same thing, I have replaced the_content with the_excerpt which seems to be working…

In reply to: WordPress Portfolio Site: Pages or Posts? Thanks for the links, I’m still struggling with it, but I’ve gone with Hemingway as a theme and I’m going to put my projects on there as posts, under a portfolio category. That way I can modify the sidebar etc to separate the blog posts from portfolio posts, and use a different page template to show them too. So far I think it’s the best way as the projects will be searchable, indexable and categorisable (if those are words) I just thought the pages option was a bit to static, after all, the power of wordpress is in the posts.
I’ll post a link once I’ve got it all sorted out…

In reply to: How to NOT display post image (Text & Image seperately)Just had a thought, could I use the <—more> quicktag after the post text, then bung in the IMG tag after it? That way I could set my template up to only show the_content up to the <—more> tag and thereby hide the image? Then I can use the Image Extractor plugin to display the image elsewhere…? Does the <—more> tag work like this?
Any other ideas would be gratefully received…

In reply to: Multi Purpose WordPress SiteHi Gavin
Your site is good, and that’s kind of what I mean, the forum being part of the site, although you don’t run a WP blog on there. I notice you use Mambo, which I don’t know anything about at all, so would be keener on sticking with WordPress if possible. I also think my girlfriend may find Mambo harder to use than WP which insulates her from the scary guts of the site and keeps options to a minimum.
I guess I don’t mind the Forum looking a bit different from the site, the photos page on there at the moment already lacks the sidebar so it’s no problem. So long as the pages on the site have a common header and share the same graphic style it will look cohesive.
I guess I need someone to outline what sort of steps I need to take to get something approaching what I’m aiming for.
Anyone running a similar site?

In reply to: Plogger: A Promising Gallery AlternativeReally looking forward to Plogger, I can’t seem to use the plogger forums to suggest anything but I was wondering whether it can be prevented from showing the full res files each time. I don’t really want users to get access to my full images, plus the diskspace needed for all my photos will be huge. Perhaps an option could be included to manufacture the thumbnails and previews but discard the full-size image to reduce disk space requirements and protect my copyright to my pictures…?
Can’t wait for v1.0 and a WP plugin!

In reply to: Create an archives pageI have added the function from the Clean Archives plugin to the archive page above to add more detail but I’m still unsure as to how to get it to show my sidebars etc…
Any pointers?

In reply to: Create an archives pageOK, I followed this and created an archive page for my blog https://www.holster.co.uk/blog
The result is here:
https://www.holster.co.uk/blog/blog-archive/
but as you can see it hasn’t included my sidebars etc and is a little messy. My theme is a tweaked version of Mike Little’s Journalized.
I’ve obviously done something wrong along the line somewhere, can anyone enlighten me?

In reply to: itunes for windowThanks for the reply, I think I’m going to have to wait to configure your plugin etc until I can get RecentTunes to work locally. I emailed the author and it turns out that the problem might be with RecentTunes before it even gets to the GET request and I might have to wait for a program update to resolve it.
I’ll let you know how I get on.

In reply to: itunes for windowI had trouble configuring it properly as I couldn’t find any particularly detailed instructions on the mutual configurations to get any WP plugins and Recent Tunes to talk to each other. I’m not a PHP guru and I read that Recent Tunes didn’t work with Tiger anyway so was close to giving up to be honest. I couldn’t get RecentTunes to affect the files it is supposed to write to in my WP site, so I hadn’t got as far as choosing a WP plugin to handle it.
I love the way it has been done at https://www.lucky-33.com/ – If I can get somethng like that I’d be sorted. I haven’t tried your plugin David, but I’ve just downloaded it. Can you give me any specific advice as to how to configure RecentTunes to talk to it? Also, does your plugin display album art and is it possible to link to the iTunes store rather than Amazon?

In reply to: help with ‘audioscrobbler viewer’ pluginI have just set this up on my blog and it works fine, it’s pretty slow though and a bit clumsy compared to the nicer iTunes plugins you can get running easily on the PC. I’m on Mac, and ironically there doesn’t seem to be a good iTunesBlogger alternative so I’m stuck with this for now.
I’d still like to have cover art displayed, and to have links to the iTunes store or amazon rather than Audioscrobbler. Apart from that, like I say, it slows down the page quite a lot and the text doesn’t look too pretty.
has anyone got a more elegant solution for the Mac?

In reply to: itunes for windowHaving the opposite problem here, I can’t seem to find anything that will do this on the Mac, there is no Mac version of iTunesBlogger and the only 2 alternatives don’t seem to work and are no longer supported by their authors. (Recent Tunes & iTunes Watcher)
Help!
??
Apparently Recent Tunes is no longer in development for the Mac, and it doesn’t work with the new Tiger OS. I really want to use this iTunes functionality on my blog, but find it ironic that there doesn’t seem to be much Mac support seeing as iTunes is an Apple product.
Does anyone know how I can get the approriate info from my computer to my blog so that WPiTunes can make use of it? I guess I’m looking for a Mac equivalent to iTunesBlogger and some help with configuring it…

In reply to: Change admin comment display nameOK, that seems to do it, I thought that the nickname was the login, and wasn’t sure that ?? was the most secure login to have, but you’re right I have changed it to ?? and it’s fine.
Thanks!
