I am having the same exact issue.

When a subscriber updates their email address in the wordpress interface, it creates another entry within Mailchimp with that new email, instead of changing their existing subscriber email address within Mailchimp.

I managed to bypass the login using the steps outlined by Pavan Somu in his article:

I then reinstalled your plugin and checked the box to allow for drifting. Everything appears to be working perfectly now.
