In reply to: [WooCommerce] Woocommerce variable products got excessive load timesHi @shameemreza,
and thank you very much for the quick reply.
First things first. Each of the mentioned products does in fact have an SKU, price – but no inventory count – although each does have the earlier mentioned variations in swatches and sizes. This adds to the multiplication of separate products, which you also noted in your last reply.
In terms of your recommendations…
- Optimizing Images – We already have installed and are running plugins for image optimization for quite some time now. The resulting images balance quality vs. performance pretty well as far as we can tell and thus, we won’t be able to further maximize performance in that direction.
- Pagination – This actually sounds quite interesting and could be a feasible solution to lowering the extreme load times – if – we understood your suggestion correctly. So does your idea imply that we lower the display of products per page load from for instance the present 4 x 4 rows and columns, totalling 16 products per page load, to a lower product count of for instance 4 x 2, bringing the total of products per page load down to 8 items, so the webserver needs to serve less transactions to the client and hence, load times are increased that way…?
- Database Optimization – Although, we do know about this option, we never have tried it before. What would the consequences be if we’d optimize the database if any? For instance, is there a risk of customers losing their carts while shopping on our site in that exact moment etc.? We don’t allow comments on our site and keep a tab on tags ourselves. By “old revisions” are you talking about the website or database?
- Use a Content Delivery Network – We seem to be using a CDN at the present by means of a plugin. However, we don’t really need a CDN as we geoblock pretty much any country that is irrelevant to us and only allow a handful of countries, that are in our sphere of interest for sales. So also here, we won’t be able to improve a lot on load times.
- Upgrade hosting plan – This could be an option although our hosting plan already is one of the hightest possible tiers, that our ISP provides to its customers. However, we’ll be checking up on this down the road if things don’t get better using your suggestion under point #2.
In retrospect, what you are saying in your answer sounds as if WooCommerce doesn’t really handle a lot of variable products with many variations too well unless you find workarounds, such as your suggestions.
Is that correctly understood?
Another question…, would the paid version of WPRocket be worth the money and effort or would it create other or more issues such as conflicting with the “IQ Block Country” plugin etc.?
*Solved*
Nevermind. We just figured out the solution.
It was due to the fact, that we didn’t auto generate all of the variable swatches under “variants”.
It’s all good and all the color swatches are showing up now.
Thanks anyhow for the swift reply.
Good day to you.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Lastest woocommerce update messes with VAT/TAX settings@digitalkingston Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated.
However, this wasn’t our issue. We just found that we could adjust the VAT settings by setting our business address as the standard VAT location – as far as we can remember – and that adjustment did the trick.
Somehow, the WooCommerce updates must have changed or messed with the previous way of setting the VAT location and eversince we made the aforementioned adjustements, everything works like a charm once again.
But hopefully, other users in this forum might find your advice helpful to solve a similar problem regarding this topic down the road.
So, thanks once again for your kind help and the time you took to do so.
Wishing you a nice day.

Hi James Huff @macmanx and thanks so much for the swift reply and advice.
WooCommerce’s free storefront theme appears quite nice seen from a functional aspect and – as you also pointed out – is meeting the majority of our requirements. However, we noticed its lack of customization and design options as it seems to rely on older “classic themes” and although free, looks as if it is a bit limited in this area.
In terms of WooCommerce’s own themes, we noticed that there is a need to consistently pay a monthly/annual fee opposed to themeforest’s system, which is a “buy-once-keep-forever” concept and which we would prefer in the long run.
You also mentioned, that we could pick almost any design that we like, but do you or does anybody else in this forum for that sake know if there are some themeforest themes, that have a higher degree of design options and customization, such as animated effects (ie. revolving product images on hover or similar) and other, more sophisticated design features?
Oh by the way…, we forgot to ask about another very important requirement.
Are there themes, that are fulfilling and are more compatible in terms of responsiveness…?
And last but not least, do we need to buy a professional editor or would the Gutenberg editor suffice in this case?
Thanks once more.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Lastest woocommerce update messes with VAT/TAX settingsHi Pepe @anastas10s and thanks for your response as well as a big fat apology for the delay in reply – once again – but we were so busy right before and after the holidays, that this slipped our mind. Sorry about that.
Since our last correspondence, we have received 2-3 more updates for Woocommerce and subsequently changed the settings for VAT to our local rate. Eversince there hasn’t been any issue related to the VAT settings, calculations or similar. As such, the issue seems to have been fixed and fingers crossed – we hope, that it will remain like this in the future.
Don’t worry in terms of the other posts and questions. We are currently replying and addressing those as well.
We highly appreciate the time you took to help us out in this matter and thank you once again.
Have a great day!

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Discount coupon on product bundle in WoocommerceHi @albarin and also here a big fat thanksfor your time and help.
We understand via your response, that only one item in the cart will already trigger the coupon discount. However, @xue28 response in this thread indicated otherwise.
“If you enter multiple products in this field, the discount will only be applied when all of these products are in the cart. This means that if a customer adds the cap, hoodie, and t-shirt to their cart, the discount will be automatically applied to their order.“So, we would assume, that adding all three product items in the cart will first trigger the coupon discount, correct?
Thanks also for the link to the other thread. We’re checking up on that in the near future and see if we can gain some more information on what the options are in terms of coupon/discount plugins for WordPress. Thanks also to you once again for your kind help.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Discount coupon on product bundle in WoocommerceHi @xue28 and thanks for your reply.
Thanks for your respons and a big fat apology for the delay in reply – once again – but we were so busy right before and after the holidays, that this slipped our mind. Sorry about that.
Thanks also for the clarification and explanation on the behavior of the coupons regarding the products required before any given discount is handed to the customer and subsequently visible in the shopping cart at checkout.
Furthermore, we looked at the plugins you linked to but as you also pointed out, there is a substantial cost involved with acquiring these plugins and at the present, we are just looking for something which is either free or comes at a much lower, reasonable price.
Could you possibly recommend us one of the many other free plugins, that are available on the WordPress plugin site and which do a similar job?We highly appreciate the time you took to help us out in this matter and thank you once again.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Lastest woocommerce update messes with VAT/TAX settingsHi @babylon1999 and thanks for your reply. Apologies for the delay in our reply but there has been a crazy, busy time in the office lately. Thanks however for dealing with our issue and the time you took to reply.
The caveat with what you described as being a normal behavior, depending on the setting within the tax option is that we did have the “Calculate tax based on”?set to –>?“Customer shipping address” before and which would always calculate our VAT correctly since “the beginning of time”.
However, after the Woocommerce update, the VAT calculated changed to be 0,8% – lower – instead of being the – positive – and correct VAT amount that we are using locally.
There isn’t really anything else, we did before or after the change of VAT took place. It just happened (apparently) due to the update and we then changed the VAT settings to instead of?“Webshop address” which did the trick as our local VAT was once again charged correctly.
Therefore, we are also unable to provide you with step-by-step instructions as there was a different situation before and after the update but on the other hand, you could try out this scenario with the older version, set to the above mentioned VAT settings first, then update to the newer Woocommerce version and see if you are able to replicate the problem that way.
However, we guarantee you that this issue was real and did happen to us after the update with the settings mentioned.
Hope, that helps.
Btw, we got some other post and question for you in this forum which haven’t been addressed yet.
Could you also here kindly get back to us?
Thanks so much.

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Best suited gift card plugin for shopIn earnest, we already made another, unrelated post about something else that was related to WooCommerce in this forum and got the same reply. We then tried to repost it in their forum on this site, but it has now been a bit over a week and there is still no reply – even after bumping the thread for some reaction.
It seems as if the WooCommerce forum is quite dead and nobody bothers to answer questions. That’s why we posted in this forum instead. Please note, that we aren’t paying customers with them but use WooCommerce within our paid theme.
So if anyone could shed light on the above, we’d still really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
