Mine was not created intentionally either – it created right after I upgraded the latest version of plugin (I assume) I think the developer will answer better that what could be the issue. After showing 404 for sometime it started showing me an empty xml path.

Okay the above is solved but now it is generating new error:

Missing XML tag
This required tag is missing. Please add it and resubmit.

Yes it worked fine, sorry got busy with things so couldnt reply earlier.

BTW we are facing other issues, like most of the articles are showing Unknown Syntax error. Although they are appearing fine to me when I do /amp/ on posts.

Yes it was a theme problem, no the code just changed time in the wordpress posts/pages nothing to do with sitemaps time. Sitemap time is showing GMT like always.

Hi, yes the sitemap timings are 00:00 – no changes in that, it is shown as GMT. I have just reconfigured my wordpress time – which wasn’t changing from General settings even after selecting the -4 UTC (New York).

Sorry to bother – this issue has been fixed.

For others who are facing same problem can try putting this code at the bottom of wp-config file.

/** Set default timezone so all date/time functions report back properly */
date_default_timezone_set(get_option(‘timezone_string’));

No there isnt any other kind of caching. Not sure why it’s happening although news sitemap is not showing any of the articles from non news categories but still google is fetching them as news.

Despite removing all cache for sitemaps, I see something is taking NON-news categories into news still, could you guess what? Really want to solve this.

We are using Nginx Cache and Nginx Cache Helper.

Yes, I just told our hosts and developer to completely remove sitemaps from caching.

Hi RavanH, thanks for all your help. Just to let you know it has been fixed. The sitemap was cached, I purged cache totally and it worked.
