Try “the_excerpt(); ”

First line should be:

$query_string = "posts_per_page=5&cat=-3";

Add the ‘&cat=-3’ to the $query_string variable.

For example;

$query_string = "posts_per_page=5&cat=-3';

1. Go to admin panel.
2. Under settings, click general.
3. Change “Subscriber” to “Contributor” under New User Default Role.

1. Go into a Post.
2. Scroll down to the bottom.
3. Under the Custom Field area, press enter new.
4. Enter “category” for Name and “Events” (or whatever you want) for Value.
5. Press the white update button.
6. Press the blue update button on the top right.

If you only want it on the home page, take out the code you added to page.php and add it to the same position in index.php.
