For the excerpt problem what i did was edited the main index template (index.php) and changed <?php the_content?> to <?php the_excerpt?>

Yeah i was just looking at that actually (i came across a similar post from 6 months ago), this should do exactly what i’m after.

Thanks, i followed the link The_Loop and have managed to exclude the posts on the homepage, just trying to figure out how i show them on the other page now

it’s ok, it’s resolved now
