In reply to: [Private groups] Trouble with User Navigation on Profile PageP.P.S. Feel free to test with the student profile name “admin”. As you can see, the Topics are only coming up as titles, and if you click on them, this will lead you to the private page. This works great! The random blog post glitch seems to have resolved itself… The problem is lies in the REPLIES. The full post is visible to anyone who clicks on the replies link. Hope this makes more sense! ?? Thanks again…

In reply to: [Private groups] Trouble with User Navigation on Profile PageP.S. I also disabled all plugins except for BBPress and Private Groups, and nothing changed… I can still read students topics and replies through their profile (via the links under their avatar), which means everyone else can too. Thanks again for your help!

In reply to: [Private groups] Trouble with User Navigation on Profile PageHello Robin!
I’m so sorry for taking so long to get back to you. I’ve been in the middle of moving, and everything has been put on hold for a bit.
I did what you suggested, and went straight to a default theme, and I’m still having the trouble.
Just so I know we are looking at the same thing, would you mind checking out the following page and clicking the links under the profile photo?
https://bellynsoul.com/forums/students/admin/
Now now of my topics seem to show, even when I am logged in, viewing my own profile. The replies, however, are now including blog posts. Really odd. I haven’t done anything to my site since I wrote you.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!

In reply to: [Private groups] Trouble with User Navigation on Profile PageNoooo worry at all, Robin. Sorry, this post does sound rather convoluted! ??
To simplify…
If a non-registered, non-logged in person happens to land on a student’s profile, and clicks either Topics Started, Replies Created, or Favorites, they can see the post topics. In fact, Replies Created actually shows the full reply, without having to click on the post.
Here’s an example of what I mean.
https://bellynsoul.com/forums/students/admin/replies/
Is there any way this can be hidden too? Or at least seen only by those registered for that particular forum?
I hope that makes more sense…
Thanks again!

In reply to: [Private groups] Subscribe users to private forumI THINK I may have figured out a way around this.
1. I changed the WP default role to “Customer” when folks register on my website (but this could be anything other than Subscriber).
2. In the “Users” section of WP, I manually changed the role of each student/user to “Subscriber”.
3. I used BBPress Notify plugin, assigning email updates to go to “Subscribers”.
So far so good!
It takes more time to do it this way, but for private forums, it’s worth it to me.
Thanks for creating such a fantastic plugin, Robin!
Kindy,

In reply to: [Private groups] Trouble with User Navigation on Profile PageAnd please ignore the first part of my question regarding the links not working properly. This is now fixed. The only issue I’m having now is visibility of posts through the profile page…
Thanks!

In reply to: [Private groups] Trouble with User Navigation on Profile PageI should clarify my “private profile” comment…
Ideally, I’d love to have bbpress profiles visible to other students in the group, but not public.
Is this possible?
Thanks again!

Thanks so much for continuing to try to help me, Vernonhorn!
I’m not sure what to do with this… It looks like this relates to my Google font, Oxygen. Could that be causing the trouble?? It’s just strange that it only happens when I use a short slider on the home page. I can’t seem to make the connection.
Sorry, this is really wracking my brain for some reason…
Thanks again,
SharonHello Vernonhorn,
Thanks for your suggestions!
I’m comparing the size of two different sliders. There is only one slide in this slider, with a couple of fade in overlays (both small). The only difference between this and my other sliders is the height (the one in question is shorter).
I did start over from scratch, and as soon as I set the height, the problem occurred again.
The jerking motion is one quick ubrupt jerk from side-to-side as the home page is loading (caused by the scroll bar disappearing momentarily). It’s minimal, but jarring to me…
Yes, I’ve seen this happen on both my 1400px laptop, and my new 1920px desktop.
If it doesn’t happen the first time, when I refresh 1-2 times, it happens again…
Hope that helps!
Thanks again,
SharonThanks so much for checking!
The width is the same for all of my sliders (1000px). The only difference is the height. When I trade out the home page slider for one of my others, it works fine (above 500px height).
SOMETIMES it works fine, but usually not. If you refresh a couple of times, it should happen.
I thought it was just on a 1400px screen size, but it’s also happening on my 1920px browser size.
Does that change anything?
Thanks again!
SharonThank you!!!!!! ??
I’m VERY happy about that.
Thanks again!
SharonYes! Random wioukd be great, to add some diversity, but giving the users a choice of custom avatars would be down-right amazing! I’ve seen SUCH a demand for this, as I’ve been trying to figure out hiw to do it for quite a while.
Right now my custom avatar is a funky girl, and it’s way too gender-specific for my liking. Ideally, I’d like a few different characters that commenters can choose from, that represent their personality. I think this would add to the engagement and fun of the website/discussions.
My website is thenourishedcook, com, if you’d like to see the theme I’m going for.
Thanks so much for asking!

In reply to: [WordPress Related Posts] Hide Related Posts on Specific Posts?Thank you, Petra!
I actually figured it out a few minutes after I send the question, but I couldn’t figure out how to find/erase my post! ??
The plugin is even easier to use than I realized…
Thanks again!
