  • I have the same problem.

I checked SEO >> Meta Description Editor. All of my posts have a meta description, but that description doesn’t get applied to the post. I tried to facebook debug, but the information it fetches remains wrong.

I do have another plugin, Contextual Related Posts. If this plug-in is activated, the meta description changes to these related posts (like: “Read Further Title A Title B”). If I deactivate Contextual Related Posts, the description changes to the first few words of the post instead of the custom meta description I made. So the description I want to use is never applied…

So the problem seems to be that SEO knows all of my meta descriptions and saved them correctly but still doesn’t apply them.
Any tips on that? Thanks in advance!

    Hello Ajay,

    thank you for answering.
I use the same plugin for FB sharing for all my posts, so it doesn’t explain the differences between posts.

It’s hard to notice the problem if you don’t pay close attention to the text. I’ll try to explain again.
Contextual Related Posts is deactivated right now and non of my posts show any related posts at the bottom of the page – this works fine.
But if you hit the FB-share button, the description text for e.g. mangabildung.de/reaktor-1-f-ein-bericht-aus-fukushima (the one you visited) says this:
Passende Beitr?ge:Daisy aus FukushimaTokyo Magnitude 8.0Anne Frank im Land der MangasKurzportraits: übersetzungenxxxHOLiCDeath Note
This text was generated by the Contextual Related Posts plugin – because this is a list of related posts. But the plugin is deactivated right now, so I shouldn’t get any related posts at all, and I certainly shouldn’t be getting them in my sharing-description-text.
The text I told SEO Ultimate to show when hitting FB-sharing is this:
Haben Sie sich mal gefragt, wie in Fukushima aufger?umt wird? Schutzkleidung, Firmenstreits und Strahlung stehen auf der Tagesordnung.

And before installing Contextual Related Posts, this was indeed the text that was shown when sharing the link.
I also tried the following. Contextual Related Posts is deactivated right now. I tried to post something new and do indeed get the text for sharing that I want, so this works fine.
But: I simply wanted to delete the affected posts and post them again with the plugin deativated. But even with completely deleting the old posts and publishing a new version, I still get the related posts-list when sharing in the link description box.

I hope I was able to describe my problem. I just want my old sharing-text back by now…
