    Hello again support,
Sorry, matters have taken me away from this problem. I just worked with my hosting provider over the past couple days to adjust my site. WordPress is no longer located in a “/wp” subfolder. Settings are also now in place to redirect http to https.

The subscriber count is still not working, and the debugger tool is not either. I am able to browse to the xmlrpc.php file from the outside. Please advise on next steps?
    thanks!

Thanks for the pointers Michelle! I’ve updated WP to 5.8 and JetPack to 10 (even reinstalled it) and while I seem to have a connection to wordpress.com for stats and things like that, the subscriber count still isn’t working and your debug link still doesn’t connect either. BTW, there is no https for my site, don’t have/need an SSL cert right now.
I did discover that my /xmlrpc.php path isn’t working as your article specifies. Instead I’m getting a standard No Search Results found type screen within my blog, so there must be a plugin or theme function interfering with that file.

@alegrigis thanks for the response, somehow I missed the notification. I’m not using WPML so don’t think that is the issue. Your method of manually removing the file will work, but is obviously not ideal for a non-technical user who will be managing these files on the site going forward.

@hchouhan thanks for your response, but I think the idea of this thread was identifying a way to delete the file without having to use the Media menu, i.e. one-step deletion from the Downloads management interface. Ideally, removing the “Download” version should also remove the file, or at least offer that option. Any chance this may be added in the future? Thanks!

Running into this exact same issue. Watching for response.
