In reply to: Plugin to pull only most recent post into a page?I think I’m catching on
Okay, so I set a Page as my index in my settings… how?
Blog address (URL) or WordPress address (URL)? But I don’t want to MOVE my blog which is what WordPress address would do.Or this?
Front page displays
– Your latest posts
– A static page (select below)* Front page:
* Posts page:Then set another page as my blog page? obrienstore.com/blarney-social-club becomes my blog homepage how?
Thanks alot – this has been keeping me up nights
I’ll figure out the query next, for now I’m just trying to get the pages to work.

In reply to: Plugin to pull only most recent post into a page? Thanks but that’s not quite it. I want the home page to be a static Page with content on it. Pulled into it is the most recent post.
To add a layer of complexity, I want that traditional, dynamic homepage, to appear as a secondary page.
https://www.obrienstore.com
I have two pages there to note – Home and Blarney Social Club
I want home to be static at obrienstore.com – pulling in the most recent post to a section.
Blarney Social Club is the blog home and should live at obrienstore.com/blarney-social-clubForum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Remove current page from navigation?Did you figure out how to do this?
I want to remove the Home link as I’ve set up a Home Page and now Home appears twice in the navUpdate
It seems to be only happening in the page/post template. That is, not the sidebar, footers or headers. I can’t say that for certain but everything looks find except the content of the page/post

In reply to: Trackbacks? Where are they?So I’m still lost as I know I have dozens of links to posts in my blog. A few include /trackback/ at the end.
None appear as comments at the end of my posts though nor do my posts have the “trackback” link I’ve frequently seen on other blogs.
HandySolo, that link was insightful but still doesn’t explain how to set up what seemingly isn’t set up on my blog (otherwise, by that explanation, I’d see them on my site)
Right?Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Trackbacks? Where are they?Brilliant, thanks, any way I can create one to test it?

In reply to: Veritcal line running through postsIt is a 3 column design, I’ve moved the left sidebar to the right side (now in the center)
I assumed that line would move with it but apparently not
It does look like a column borde so where might I look for that?Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Can’t select database – Have to be on root?Alright man, let me share the same suggestion. Don’t assume all the questions asked are by idiots. I’m pretty good with the file structure, permissions, etc. to make a good bet that the problem isn’t there. Now, I may be wrong as I have no experience with DBs so that is why I keep referring to it with my questions; I am assuming that is the problem. If it isn’t, a little more help is appreciated rather than badgering me for my question.
The error message isn’t telling me anything of value about the installation, database, or heck my operating system (that’s sarcastic).
All the permissions on wp-admin, subfolders, and files are open (777) so the error doesn’t make sense to me with my limited knowledge. As far as I know, I shouldn’t be getting a permission error when all the chmod settings are read/write/execute for user, group, and others.
What am I missing?Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Can’t select database – Have to be on root?wow. appreciate your support but is the tone necessary? Your first answer was this “As to your question: you can install WP in a subdir without any problem, provided the config file is correct.”
To someone unfamiliar with databases vs. the installation, you told me that I can install the files where ever I want but did not clarify if the database location needs to address the fact that I’m in a subdir. I sincerely appreciate your help but my asking it (again) was very intentional as my question wasn’t answered the first time. Can I ask another, different question?
I’ve finally accessed the install pages and when trying to login, with the right username and password (I’ve done it now 3 times by deleting the DB tables and reinstalling), I get this error:Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/ on this server.Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Do I need to use MySQL database user and password and not those WP set for me? Are there settings I need to change on the DB? Read/Write permissions?
Thanks again
