Never mind. This plugin did it.

I realise this thread is from last year, but I’m having the same problem (listing the most recently updated links first and with date). I tried wp_get_links plus parameters and get_links plus Link Manager. I also solved the problem of listing the latest links first by sorting by ID… but I don’t get a date stamp either way, neither in the link text nor in the tooltip.

Any help would be appreciated!

Actually, the code above will correctly exclude one or more categories, but at the disadvantage of not displaying the correct number of posts per page. I’ll have to look at the template’s code and see what can be done through query_posts or whatnot to solve this.

Thanks… but this puts both comment popup link and comments on archive pages ??

I had the same problem and solved it as you propose, but now when posting a comment on an archived individual entry page, i.e. not in a popup, wp loads the popup code in the main browser window.
Is it possible at all to have popup comments on the main index and monthly archives but on-page comments under the individual post pages?

I’m not sure I get this right. Does this mean I’d have to add each new post to the list in the link manager manually and include the date as a description?

In case anyone’s interested – I found it. I replaced a couple of s in functions-formatting.php (find/replace) and turned off the MarkDown Plugin.
