Wow, crazy that upon logging in it made me checkbox that I have no WPE affiliation, taking things too far for a community site I would say.

Anyhow, yes, we no longer face this problem.

It took six months, but I finally had reason to make some time to add support for Woo coupons, positive and negative fees. This is done in version 1.7. I also added shipping line item support while I was at it.

Version 4.2.3 just dropped and it indicate some fixes in the change-log. I’ll test it out.

I don’t consider it resolved. I can’t spend the client’s budget going down rabbit holes, but I do believe that in time there will be more clarity on this problem. I’m keeping an eye on things. We released Stripe (a requirement for the Browser Demand payments anyhow) and that provides a secondary CC form as well, but the client may prefer the Braintree CC form, so we’ll see how this goes. I suppose we’ll have to open a new ticket then when there’s more details.

I also reported this to WooCommerce.com to try to get some eyes on it.

FYI you can downgrade it via WP-CLI with this command wp plugin update taxjar-simplified-taxes-for-woocommerce --version=4.2.1 and this has patched the affected stores in my portfolio just fine.

In order for it to stop bugging you about the 4.2.2 update; edit the file taxjar-woocommerce.php and set the Version: line near the top from 4.2.1 to 4.2.3-beta then the real v4.2.3 (or later) will download over it when ready.

Same here, on a few sites in my portfolio. It’s been causing lots of admin area problems. I reported it yesterday and haven’t heard anything back yet. I’ll sit in on this ticket too.

We’re not doing any checkout modifications. These days I remove those whenever I find them since it’s (a) disruptive to the customer and (b) incompatible with the Express Checkout methods that have become very popular, bypassing checkout fields accordingly.

It’s possible caches may have something to do with this one. I did flush all of the WP Engine caches earlier yesterday so the timing would line-up there. We’ll keep an eye on it…

We’ve received three or four Braintree credit card orders today, so the problem seems to be getting better on its own!

Unfortunately though we did hear from one other customer who had trouble with payment. All I heard from C/S on that one was “payment is giving the null error message again.?He is older and does not know how to clear his history”. So we’re not out of the woods yet, but things are looking up overall.

Yeah a major version number with no change-logs sure is very high risk. I wouldn’t install it on any critical sites until the basics are covered.

Hi @neoseeyou and thanks for reaching out. No, I have not built compatibility with the official WooCommerce Subscriptions module. This is a minimalist plugin and the core integration with Stripe would need to be much heavier. However; Stripe has its own Subscriptions system that operates renewal orders Stripe side. Stripe even has a customer self-service portal that you can token toss your customers into so that they can manage their subscription. My plugin is able to utilize Stripe Subscriptions if you use the keyword “monthly” or “annually” within your product SKU. The implementation is very basic at this time, but I would consider some small enhancements to it. Plus, you can always make your own Stripe hosted product catalog and payment links / checkouts that can offer subscriptions.

No PHP fatal errors were observed. This is just the way the SkyVerge library uses an Order object to apply payment methods to user accounts. With HPOS enabled this creates empty Pending payment orders, causing confusion. Normal orders still flow in properly.

We trashed those empty orders after discovering the cause and applying the workaround (disabling Tokenization in gateway settings). Empty orders was creating a perception of lost orders within the organization, which had to be addressed quickly.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Setup with WooCommerce and the latest Braintree payment gateway (test mode might suffice), HPOS enabled, and gateway Tokenization enabled.
2. Log in using a Customer account.
3. Visit My Account > Payment Methods > Add payment method and complete the process.
4. Consider making a few attempts at this to gather data (success or fail should reproduce either way).
5. Log in as a Shop Manager or Administrator user.
6. Visit WP Admin > Woo > Orders and notice the mostly empty Pending payment orders, one for each Add payment method attempt.

If it helps anybody, the crash stems from the JWT Auth plugin. We get the same crash quite often. It seems to happen every time there is a REST API request made that is not authenticated by that plugin, i.e. when a normal fail response would be expected. They’ve been revamping that plugin recently, so this might get fixed in their v3.0 series.
