    Hi Danny,

Thanks for getting back so quick. The only thing I’m really suspecting is an older version of PHP, I had another plugin mention that a while ago, but said plugin worked anyway, forgot which one it was though. For the rest, the Mailchimp API and the rest of the site (all things WordPress anyway) is up to date and seems to be working fine.

I see no widget at all. Another really dumb question: where on the dashboard is it supposed to appear?

I am actually about to move the site to a new cloud server, perhaps that will have a newer version of PHP. Will post back if that works.

    It worked!
For anyone who’d like to know, you can use the free Updraft Plus backup plugin to migrate a site from one live host to another, as long as the URL/domain is not changing and downtime is not an issue. I did not need to export/import any other settings via FTP etc. From the Dropbox sync on my computer, I only uploaded into UpdraftPlus the ‘Database’, ‘Themes’, ‘Plugins’, and ‘Uploads’. What I did not include was the file named ‘others’, that apparently contains data about hosting settings which won’t normally apply to your new host.

The amount of data in your site and the upload speed of your internet connection will dictate how long your site is down. When you install the fresh copy of WP on the new host, you can use any random user login details to set it up, and once done, put up a short message telling visitors your site is on it’s way. Once the upload is done, click restore. You will get a warning saying this backup is from another site, technically thats true, but I just ignored that. The user details I used to install the fresh WP were overwritten and all other users were restored.

It was the permissions, but I would have liked to know how they did it, they must have forgotten to tell me after I asked them to, I want to learn this stuff. And the other problem fixed itself later last night, for a while error 406, then we are back in. Is possible for computers to fix themselves?……

Both problems mentioned in this thread are solved, thanks!

    Hi,

Thanks for that, my web host fixed it, while I was at my day job, and all went well for a while, until I got:

“Client browser does not accept the MIME type of the requested page.”

when I try log into my WP backend, I get to the WP log in box, but no further. Don’t suppose I can ask that right here instead of starting a new post? Searches didn’t offer anything helpful other than it might be a hosting problem, only I signed up with a budget company here in Belgium….their support hours are only 8am-6pm…cost only €3 for the whole 1st year…looks like you get what you pay for….

I did try clearing cookies and cache, on 2 different Macs, 1 Safari and the other Chrome, and that didn’t help, so I’m guessing it might be a hosting issue.

I should also add that the problem only affected me when I logged out and then tried to log in again, in the meantime my wife was able to continue using the backend, until she logged out, and couldn’t get back in.
