No I don’t use a caching plugin.

When I realized they were missing, I went to Header and Background and the settings had changed. The header I use wasn’t checked and the background tile that I use was missing.

It’s interesting that this happened within a day of the upgrade to 3.9.1

What will that do? Is it safe?

I’ve also run my virus software and everything is okay on that end.

I use 3 browsers: Chrome, Safari and Firefox and they don’t appear on any of them. Yes, I cleared all the caches. It’s the oddest thing. Mine don’t show on my blog and when I go to other blogs, I am unable to see their gravatars, either.

Also wanted to add that gravatars aren’t loading on any other sites, including this one. I just see a broken picture. I checked my profile on gravatar.com and my information and gravatar are correct. When I search the forum for other discussions by WP users, their gravatars aren’t showing either.

If I check my blog on my smartphone, everything is fine. I don’t get it.

Thank you. That’s exactly where it was, so I now know it is legitimate.

In other words, these are not actual replies (from my blog) to the comments. They are offensive spam sent as a response/reply to the comment.

Yes, it did. But the emails to my commenters came from my host address with the addition of the offensive comment. When I go to the blog to look for the original comment, I can’t find any spam reply attached to it. Does that make sense?

I haven’t used that address anywhere else – it comes from Bluehost.

Esmi, the spam is going to my commenters as a reply to a comment they made on my blog. And the email shows the original comment. So something tells me it has to do with the plug in maybe?

And if it was the plug in – are there other steps I should take?

Yes – Comment Reply Notification – which I just deleted.

And I use Akismet for spam protection.

I added the code you suggested, but here’s the problem: when someone types author=2 they get my real user name. Anything else I can add to the code?
