Perhaps you’re right, 1 star may be unfair based on the fact it was free, and we shouldn’t complain about things we get for free. But, don’t assume I didn’t want to resolve it myself, I simply didn’t know how. Nor do I feel I should have to resolve it myself when dozens of other people are also having the same problem, and the developer has fallen off the face of the earth.

Also, even after your suggestion, there are questions:
Do I uncomment the lines after I re-enable W3 Total Cache?
And, will have to do this for every minor update after 4.7?

Again, things I don’t feel I should have to worry about…

This is where WordPress fails us…one plug-in developer falls off the radar, and the wheels come off the cart…

Having the same problem here. I’m running W3 Total Cache, but I disabled it and ran the update again, same 500 error. Mind you, main site works, just can no longer access the admin panel. DreamHost restore option gets me back to business quickly, but it seems there are other issues with this upgrade…

Bug report submitted. But, I’m not a plus or pro member, so it looks like I am S.O.L…

Vanessa, I am having similar issues…this plug-in does something they are not letting on.

Every time I edit or create a gallery by adding images, my server goes unresponsive for 30 minutes or more… The only thing I can do is wait, and then close my browser and clear the cache…

During that time, the site is inaccessible, and I can’t log into my cpanel either…

Let me know if you find out what is going on.

This has been happening to me as well, since the 2.0 “upgrade”…it seems others are having this problem as well.

You are lucky if all you have to do is close the browser, my site is unresponsive for at least 30 minutes, and I still have to close the browser and clear the cache.

Happens every time I create, import, or edit a gallery by adding images.

I’ve disabled all plug-ins except for nextgen, and not surprisingly, the problem returns. I’ve disabled nextgen and tried other gallery plug-ins which work fine.

My site is in a redirect loop for 30 minutes after modifying a gallery (creating, importing, or adding images).

I’ve worked with my web host, and we tracked down the following errors in my log that occur during the time that the website is not able to be accessed:
