I’m searching for answers on how to modify my site, at least 1/2 of the questions posed by others are closed without answer.

I think you – and the other mods – are living in a bubble. Closing unanswered questions and then no one bothers to repost is not stable.

For example, a while back, Jetpack had an update and it crashed mine, and many other’s sites. One guy posted his site crashed and we all started asking each other, “What plugins do you have?” “What have you tried to fix it?”

Of course, a mod comes in and slaps us down. “Open your own string.”

what use is it to have 30,000 identical strings. Why can’t some threads be where users share their collective knowledge?

There seems to be no tollerance at WP for any deviation on this subject and it drives me crazy and I know it drives a lot of others crazy too.

I bought WPML about 14 months ago. Tried for a month or two to get it to work. Never could get it to work. Recently, had some plugin and WP updates and I’ve noticed that there is residual WPML junk everywhere.

TRIED to get to the WPML support site and I’m completely locked out.

I guess, they only help you to remove the software if you have an issue in the first year.

I sent a generic contact request and haven’t heard anything back yet.

Bottom line up front: The software doesn’t work and support vanishes after your account expires. In other words, I have to pay for a new subscription to find out how to remove this defective code. If WPML wrote the program correctly, it would remove itself completely, not 80%, not 84%, not enough where it leaves residual problems.

I paid good money for a plugin that I never used (deleted it a month after install) and now I can’t fully uninstall it and where is WPML “support?”

I get the same problem, I have 10 visitors showing, once it gets up to 10, those 10 stay locked and it doesn’t work any more. I deactivate and reactivate and then it works again. Seems I have to do his every 3 or 4 days.

I changed the frequency of the duplication enable – checked back after a few hours and the number of blocked IP addresses has grown by 50%

AND, my spam box is empty as it dumps every hour.

So far as I’m concerned, problem solved – I’ll never have to empty the spam box again ??

Can you upload the file to a spare page on your site somewhere? I’m interested in giving it a try.

Yes, I have duplication enabled, twice daily.

It seems to pick up about 1 in 5 of the spam IP addresses but 4 of 5 it misses. It seems that the plugin should look in the spam containment box and just copy ALL IP addresses, no?

Redirect service was down, not the site. The site has never been down.

The redirect service was not working for a few months. During that time, the old wordpress.com site was up and running and the .com site was up and running. When I turned the redirect back on (wordpress traffic now directed to .com domain), traffic fell by half the next day and has been so since.

It is pretty obvious that the WordPress hit counter counts my hits AND webcrawlers. I had about 150 hits on one day and the counter showed 1100.

The workaround I found was to use Count Per Day, this let me enter the the hits and visitors values from my previous blog.

anyone? Certainly there must be a plugin hit counter that doesn’t count admin visits?

The only box I see is “count WP admin hits” I do not have this box checked & still it counts every page, post and photo hit from me…?

I ditched 1&1’s WordPress software and uploaded it myself & have resolved the issue.

I updated my Firefox and then added Firefly – what a cool tool. I have quite a bit to learn, buzzed through some of it and there is a lot to look at.

I pulled the css file from the theme from scratch and tried @ Photoshop Tutorial’s suggestions & then looked at the page. No dice.

Then I ADDED @ Jonas’ suggestion & it worked! Yay! Been fighting this monster for 3 days now.

Thanks to all for your help. Now I’ve got about 2 1/2 years of photos to upload to the new site to replace out the links to the WordPress page…
