Greetings,
A follow up with a little more information from another website.
This one is my church website (familyapostolic.org).
This site is running with the “Auberge” free theme and showing very
similar results under PHP7.1 with a slightly different version of
Wordpress (4.9.9). WP Statistics Version 12.5.6.(stats roughly averaged over 2 to 3 loads)
Homepage on Desktop with WP-Statistics disabled – 25.5mb 0.23sec load
Homepage on Mobile with WP-Statistics disabled – 25.5mb 0.25sec loadHomepage on Desktop with WP-Statistics enabled – 28.6mb 0.35sec load
Homepage on Mobile with WP-Statistics enabled – 38.5mb 0.35sec load———————————————–
Trying it with a different version of PHP on the same site…
PHP 5.6 (stats roughly averaged over 2 to 3 loads)Homepage on Desktop with WP-Statistics disabled – 9.3mb 0.6sec load
Homepage on Mobile with WP-Statistics disabled – 9.3mb 0.5sec loadHomepage on Desktop with WP-Statistics enabled – 14.2mb 0.6sec load
Homepage on Mobile with WP-Statistics enabled – 26.4mb 0.7sec loadConcluding thoughts, I wish the memory footprint would not jump with the newer version of PHP, but the faster page load time makes for a noticeably snappier website. But with either version of PHP, the mobile memory footprint jumps significantly with WP-Statistics on both my wordpress sites running very different themes and plugins. It jumps with both PHP 5.6 and PHP 7.x too.
Why is WP-Statistics using so much memory and then another 10+ mb memory on mobile page loads on both versions of PHP?
