    Sorry about the link goof.

I’ve tried “drop a file” and also “select a file” using both Firefox and IE.

I’ve tried temporarily increasing folder and file permissions to 777 (from wp-content in).

If it’s a permissions issues can you be specific about which folders/files and which permissions to set?

btw, ideally I’d like to have a logo to the left and text page title and tagline centered. Is this doable?
    Site:
    Thanks,
    Scott

Site restored to Saturday. Issues remain.

Have asked developer to fix issues.

When fixed will set up duplicate testing site.

    Krishna –

“If you find it difficult on a live site, you should either use a test site…” I’ll host to set this up…and work from there…just hadn’t gotten around to it since site has been working wonderfully since delivered.

    So maybe steps are now:
1a. Try menu steps mentioned above to see if I can bring site back to where it was.
    or
1b. revert site to latest backup.
    2. set up duplicate testing site on host
    3. start testing as described….

Wondering…if when plugins deactivated and on Twenty Twelve theme there was no about us page visible, why does that point to faulty plugin, theme?

    Thanks.

One set of responses at a time…

    WPyogi –
    – I didn’t develop site. I assume it’s a custom menu – how would I tell by looking at it?

    – There are three menus: footer, site, and top. Site is the one selected.

The menu items look different different than earlier. Now there are a bunch of site pages on the left column; before there were two that weren’t particularly pertinent to the site.

Should I then drag an drop those those to their proper place?

    So next steps:
    1. revert to yesterdays (to undo ‘no home page’)
    2. check and fix markup errors
    3. if no joy, create another about us page & relink as described?

Also, now our link on nav bar to home page is missing.

    Thread Starter scott1137

    (@scott1137)

    Did this:

Deactivate all plugins, revert to Twenty Twelve theme and see if the contents show up.

    Received: “Well this is embarrasing…
Back to our theme: 404 for page in question.

Site is active today. Is there risk in creating another about us page then if it works re-linking the subpages to it?

    The template does have comments.php.

How do I check if it’s being called or does that fact that it’s selected under pages attribute like the others cover this?

I could put the page under “news” as a story but not link it to home page – but then I don’t see a way to have it show on the drop down as I can do with the non-story pages.

I would really like to be able to select the show comments options when we want it for a page.

    Thanks
    Scott

Yes, the permalinks are as we want them: https://www.soslsd.org/about/

But content – that is, the text in the body, sidebar, and breadcrumbs – does not show; just the header and footer:about us

Where do I go from here?

Set up a new top level page with same permalink?

    Thread Starter scott1137

    (@scott1137)

Yes, I cannot find what I need to change…menu area looks okay even after going though the menu instructions…

Where do I look to find where it’s set up wrong?

What can I post that might help?

    Thread Starter scott1137

    (@scott1137)

Read though the above; menu section looks as expected and as it was prior to adding then removing item.

Experimented with changing the permalink endings, changing ‘about’ to ‘about-us’ and several other possible combos. When I changed it back to original ‘about’ it ended in an endless redirect loop.

This has been cleared (by going into “wp_redirection_items” – thanks to Alex at Site5).

Now I’m back to where I was before: getting a page with no content nor breadcrumb but with an understanding that it’s something in menu setup.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Scott

The second link above shows a page where comments works. It will work on any of the pages that are in the news section.

They will not work on any of the pages outside the news section. The particular page I want it to show on is private as we don’t want it live yet.

“Does the template for that page have the comments code? “
    How do I check this?

Since news has it’s own template and we had told the developer we we’re interested in comments for the site the template for the rest site may not. How would I enable this?

    Best,
    Scott

    Thanks Krishna.

It’s a possibility…I placed the new page under this yesterday then removed – we decided not to go live yet. However I didn’t touch the About Us menu item.

Tried changing permalink from ‘about’ to ‘about us’ then ‘about-us’ then ‘aboutus’ all with no change. Now I have an issue with the page not displaying at all – browsers saying ‘too many redirect’ even after clearing my browsers cache.

In none of the cases was there breadcrumbs.

I’m guessing I need to contact host re:clearing something on their end. Meanwhile, what suggestions do you have re: menu issue?

    Thanks,
    Scott
