@alohabrooke, can you give us an idea of what Avatax costs? I get tweaked when services do not give a plain explanation pricing but instead invite you to contact sales. Even a ballpark would tell me if it’s something I should expend time on in pursuing.

Krishna, the parent theme is there, in the “dms” folder. I don’t need to upload another copy of the original parent theme, do I? Sorry to be so dense–my first time creating a child theme.

In case it’s helpful, here is the content of the child theme’s style.css file:

it breaks the child them (I seem to recall that DMS in beta (I was a beta tester) was in a “Pagelines” directory but was changed mid-stream to “DMS,” so I’m guessing that the article at https://docs.pagelines.com/developer/child-themes needs to be updated/corrected.) But when I use

Template: dms

the child theme looks fine but there is that pesky message I’m asking about in the first posting to this thread.

Hence, my original question. Anyone? ??

Gary, I’m just trying out WP Biographia and really like what I see!

I am thrilled that you’re about to release a “full version” of the Biography Box as a widget. I miss being able to add some basic formatting (box and shading) to the sidebar biography, as well as, of course, the social media links.

So, if there is anything I can do to free up some of your time–mow your lawn, wash you car, and such–just let me know and I’m on a plane heading your way! ??

If you will be willing to contact Postie and Comment Notifier for All, and keep me in the loop, I’d be happy to also contact them. Failing that, I’m assuming we can get the code (it’s open source, right?), and I’d be more than happy to chip in on finding someone to get it to work for us. (I’m not a coder, unfortunately.) You are so close, and it’s such an elegant solution that I just thing it’s worth the continuing effort. Let me know how I can help.

I must say, this discussion has been an eye-opener. First, I like the idea of conceiving of the WordPress blogging platform as a forum. Second, I have been trying for years to find a solution on another platform (DotNetNuke) that integrates a listserve functionality into a web-based discussion forum. It looks like PublicRadio has blazing a path that is astounding in its creativity.

PublicRadio, the only thing that I wonder about is how things hold up with very large numbers of users. On our main site, we would have many thousands of users accessing a given discussion. Any thoughts about that?
