  • Thank you. I have them enabled, but was confused because so much spam still shows up.

I cannot find how to integrate nonce or honeypot. Are they plug-ins? Can you give directions on how to integrate? I have akismet, but I’m still getting tons of spam messages.

I found a solution in my case. It was indeed a plug-in:
    Add Link to Facebook
    Activate | Edit | Delete
Automatically add links to published posts to your Facebook wall or pages

Version 2.3 | By Marcel Bokhorst, Tanay Lakhani | View details

The line that the error referenced indicated something with a deprecated call. I stared researching each plug-in to find one that might be deprecated and found that this one is.

I went through and one by one turned off each item under jetpack settings. I’d turn one off, refresh the page, and then turn it back on so as not to forget it. I’d check the top of the page after each refresh to make sure the error didn’t clear. It never changed.

I did note that when I’m in any of the jetpack pages and I hover over WordPress Settings in the left sidebar the same error shows up in the pop-up submenu. I cannot screenshot it as I cannot move my cursor without the submenu collapsing back. It was after permalink and before the plug-in for columns.

Hi Jeremy, Mine is at the top of all Jetpack screens. My theme is Atahualpa and I did recently update it. I don’t remember if the error showed up immediately the update or not. I noticed it at some point after performing that update, but it was some time afterwards. Atahualpa can be found on www.remarpro.com.

    Barb

The line number in the wp-rest.api file it references is 488 and that line says:
    header( sprintf( ‘X-WP-DeprecatedFunction: %s’, $string ) );

    Does that help?

I’m having the same problem. I can list the active plug-ins if that helps you. I don’t know what uses WP REST API. How would I tell?

Sorry I took so long to respond. The guestbook is for my son’s medical blog and he had to be in the hospital. I finally did everything you said and it works perfectly.

My only remaining question is that since I’m using a development version will it show when there are updates? If not, is there a place I can sign up to know when to manually update?

Thank you for all your time and effort.

I believe so, I’ll try that. Thank you.

I decided to test it out by using my test site, for fear of losing the entries from my working site. When I installed the developer version, to the test site, and tried to upload the saved entries file, from the working site, guestbook would not recognize the upload.

FYI, I exported my current entries and then tried a fresh install of the developer version on a sandbox site, then tried to import the entries. The original entries were not recognized in this manner, so I’m hesitant to remove 2.1.2 from my main site for fear of losing those entries.

I didn’t want to lose my current entries, so I tried to install over the existing 2.1.2, but that wouldn’t work. I see I can export the entries and have done so. Is there a walk through on how to install the developer option and import the existing entries that I can follow?

Thank you, I will have to try it later today, but will report back.
