I decided to install classic editor for posts and the password protect function is now working. It must be something to do with blocks? Sorted! Thank you for the help.

Still getting the Update Failed message. I am using blocks for the first time might this make a difference?

Not encountering any other problems at the moment in terms of post editing and saving content. Although a few of the blocks are appearing as boxes with the message ‘This block contains unexpected or invalid content’. Its just a plain old paragraph so I’m not sure whats going on here. I must admit I prefer working without blocks lol.

Am going to take a break from this for now and come back to it. Need to make sure I don’t make any mistakes and loose work;)

Thank you for the help. Will be in touch soon.

Ok. Not sure how to back-up. I think there is an automatic back-up carried out by my host on a monthly basis but I’ve made a lot of changes in the past few days so how do I best back-up please?

I have deactivated all plugins and there doesn’t appear to be any conflict here. Still not working. Not sure about switching themes in case I loose stuff?

Ok. Will give it a try but if I default to another theme will I loose aspects of my website?

I have carried out both of the above suggestions and it still isn’t working. Could it be a theme issue or maybe I have something turned off for posts in Jetpack that I’m over looking?

I have asked for support from the theme builders but they don’t think the problem lies at their end. I can usually sort these niggles out myself but not this time.

    Thank you.

I have published one of the posts I would like to password protect so that you can see where they will be situated on my home page.

    Hi Jarret,

Thank you for contributing. I am able to get the posts to show on the front page no problem once I make them public but I would like them to be public with the password function in place. I have deactivated the WP Content Copy Protection plugin but it doesn’t make a difference. Each time I go to password protect and update I get an ‘update failed’ message in red.

As previously mentioned the password protect function works fine for certain products and pages because I’ve tested it and have some in place at the moment. Could there be some script missing for posts to enable password protection? Also, I’d like to keep the Copy Protection as I’ve experienced people copy and pasting my work as their own (unfortunately).

    Thank you!

    Hi Steve

Just to let you know the problem is now solved. It was an issue in Permalinks. I reset it to ‘plain’ and then ‘post’ again and it seems to have done the job. Phew!

    Hi Steve

A wee up date. I have tried the Tags Cloud again and it appears to be working now. So it would seem the problem is narrowed down to Categories not working.

    Hi Steve

I don’t have that many additional plugins and the only one recently added was WP Content Copy Protection & No Right Click due to an issue with content theft. However, I have deactivated this to see if it made a difference but it didn’t. All plugins not in use have been deleted so I’m unsure of a theme conflict as nothing else has changed. I’ll check things out tomorrow and give the above a good go.

    Thank you!

    Hi Steve

    Thank you for the reply.

Sorry, I did mean to provide a link to my site:

    https://www.contemporaryhealthcare.co.uk

It is a widget I found that came with the theme and have tried both Tag Cloud and Categories which were working, but don’t seem to be anymore. Can’t think what I have changed.

    Thank you
    Kind wishes

    Hi Esmi

Thank you for the reply. It works when I default to ‘plain’ but when I reset to ‘post name’ it doesn’t work again?

    Kind wishes
    Emma
