I think I finally understand how WooCommerce works and it was not “broken”. I think it was because the store address is the tax nexxus and that is in Michigan. I tested it as per this screencast with a Michigan address:

I showed my WooCommerce plugin at v 7.4.0. I have it set to auto-update, so that system report may have been done before the update. Regardless, it is 7.4.0 now and the database has been updated.

I don’t know WooCommerce terribly well. I do have one store running just fine, but they are not collecting sales tax. I am not sure whether or not I am to complete “WooCommerce Payments.” As you can see, I’m in the middle of that here awaiting specific details from my client: https://d.pr/i/6xWxl9

They have opted to use PayPal to receive payments, so I was going to let go of completion of “WooCommerce Payments.” But perhaps this has something to do with full function of the purchase process in the plugin? Can you advise?

Regardless, I appreciate your guidance on helping me get the tax up and running.

Sorry all… I can answer my own question. “Translate This” uses Google Translate API, which is a paid service via Google Cloud. You have to add an API key to the plugin settings to get access to Google Translate. Apparently, you can also use DeepL which is offered with the PRO version of the plugin. Otherwise… YES!, you can translate the site into Spanish yourself if you are bilingual. (I’m not, so using the Google Translate option to start.) @jdembowski I can’t say who reported the review. I don’t know. To be fair to Mr. Zhu, the author of WordPress Tooltips, the Covid pandemic IS slowing everything down greatly. Nonetheless, I simply wanted to report my experience using WordPress Tooltips. I spent a lot of time manually putting in shortcode to make it work in places where it should have functioned via PHP code. I’m glad to have found a plugin that works flawlessly and hope to help others who may encounter a similar issue. This is pretty much how the WordPress Foundation improves the overall product.

Thank you wesupport!I missed the “Optional Settings” area of the Pro plugin which offers a disable feature for HTML heads, and classes. I think this is the key I was missing. Yay! Just FYI… as you guide users, the Global Settings and Optional Settings are on a stand alone screens.

I am going to answere my own post since the plugin author is unresponsive and there might be others who want to sort this issue out. YES… you can eliminated tooltips from navigation and headings. But it’s perhaps not how the plugin was meant to be used. You can disable tooltips from from the page or post using the plugin’s disable check box. Then you can manually use shortcode to place in the tooltips you want within the content areas of your page or post. Tooltip shortcode looks like this as an example for “fiduciary.”

[tooltips keyword=”fiduciary” content=”The ethical obligation to act solely in someone else’s best interest (i.e., putting the client’s interest ahead of the advisor’s). “]

It does work as the shortcode is using the jQuery in the plugin. It’s just that the plugin is really much more robust and can find ALL instances of glossary terms. In my situation, it’s undesirable to have tooltips on my navigation and heads.

It looks like this string has been around for awhile, but I’ll throw my hat in the ring for a wish for “open new window” in the button block. I’m showing potential clients live websites if they chose to view them from my portfolio and I don’t want to send people away from my site.
