Thank you both! ElectricFeet…. I watched the video and installed Firebug. Never knew anything like that existed! I fooled around with it a little but since the game is on I’m getting easily distracted! lets say I change a style that gives me the look I want in Firebug. What do I do now? Do I copy that part of the code and add it to the custom css style box thing, or do I have to actually go into the code itself? Thanks very much!

Thanks. So even if I activate the child theme, an update to the parent theme could wipe out any changes not from the datafeed unless I go in and make the same changes I already made in the parent them again in the child theme?

I see you are quite the celebrity! Congrats on your books and awards! Awesome.
You’re right that I’m not up on a lot of this stuff. I can get it if my hand is held. However it is my understanding that plugins and colors and such aren’t lost in an update. I think it’s more CSS styling changes. I know I’ve updated my “childless” theme 3 or 4 times and haven’t lost anything yet. I do not get how these child themes work. My site is 75% done. In case you’re interested it’s https://saveongolf.net . If I did get this child theme plugin and it created a child theme then what do I do with it? I have no clue! But thanks for your help and I may have to pick up one of your books!

Basic question here. What constitutes “customization” of a theme? I don’t have a child theme and don’t know exactly what it is. My site is live and running, and I’ve updated the theme before without any loss of any of the changes I’ve made so far…but I’m not sure what a customization is, so I don’t know if the “changes” I’m making are something that an update will remove or not.

Thanks. What I really wanted to do was just see what the Non-full width slider would look like. After reading your answer I just made a new slider from the same image that I named something else and added to a new page. Didn’t look the way I hoped. So I did what you suggested and created an image that looks ok on both screens. Thanks for you help! Let me know what you think!

I asked this a while back and it was SOOOO complicated I gave up and removed the whole page title clipboard and all which was easier. Maybe someone has a layman’s way to do it?

Here’s one for ya! Any way to put the search box in the h1 spot?

I added it to the custom CSS section where it can be removed easily and won’t be deleted when the version updates. It worked!..however the space where it used to be is still there. Any way to get the content to move up?

Thanks flashbuddy. I’ve tried to learn how to make a child theme on several occasions but have not been able to figure it out. Is it pretty simple? Can I do that now that I have the pages formatted the way I want them or do I have to start all over again?
