  • Hello,

I am writing about lost translations in an attempt to better understand what I have to do and also help others organize their thoughts:

    1. My aim is to edit some WC text and safeguard changes in order to avoid losing them after an update.

    2. I set my WP website language as Greek and then installed Loco Translate (LT).

    3. In LT, I selected the WC plugin and then made a copy of the Greek language (I chose the “custom location” and selected ‘Copy target translations’). The original language is titled “woocommerce-el.po” in folder SYSTEM, and the copy “woocommerce-el_custom.po” in folder CUSTOM.

    4. I am completely lost after the above point #3…

    5. I understand that I have to be IN SYNC WITH TEMPLATE (I can’t figure out how my PO file will have the same source strings as my .pot file).

    6. As I now have THE ABOVE 2 LANGUAGES (the original and the copy), I can’t understand how to deal with them…

    7. In which of the 2 should I edit my WC text?

    8. Should I first make all the changes in the original language (“woocommerce-el.po”) and THEN make the CUSTOM copy as a backup?

    9. What would happen after an update -that is, how can I make sure that all the changes will not be erased?

Please help me understand the method.

    Regards,
    Savas
